Austinites hold two things very dear: Stevie Ray Vaughn, and tacos. The seemingly innocent question "Torchy's, or Taco Deli?" is a fiercely polarizing one, dividing Austinites sharply into two camps of taco lovers, staring steely-eyed at each other across a menudo-strewn aisle. But Karina Ballesteros, owner of Tacos La Guera, adds her own spin on this most holy of Austin foods, spicing up her al pastor tacos with pineapple salsa, and sprinkling in "nopales" (or "cactus" for you Yankees) on this taco and that.
