in.gredients

I heard about in.gredients for months before it opened this past August, and was intrigued by the concept. A packaging-free grocery store? Was that basically just a big bulk section? In a word, yes. But that doesn't mean in.gredients skimps on product selection: Aside from easily scoopable stuff, you can also buy wine, beers, and gourmet fruit tarts, in addition to less sexy fare (mosquito repellant, for example). Operating from an old house on Manor Road, in.gredients isn't just a zero-waste business operation; it's a pleasantly disorienting shopping experience, reminding us what it's like to shop when we aren't so seduced by shiny, sparkly marketing. Confronted only with naked product, we're more careful to buy quality.
