Austin >Beets Living Food Cafe
My vegan hair stylist turned me onto Beets, and (as Borat would say): WAH WAH WEE WAH. This place is ridiculous. Smoothies are a given, but for something a little more substantial, try the Raw Reuben: Portabella mushrooms, caramelized onions, and Swiss cashew cheeze (the "z" indicates its vegan-ness), served on sunflower flatbread. Each dish here is a little pricy, so if you only have a little green to spend, go for an entree salad: You can get away with a medium size for under $8.
I ate at Beets for the first time last Valentine's day, and it was absolutely lovely. My favorite dishes were the raw pesto ravioli and the raw brownie with vegan vanilla ice cream and blood orange sauce. I've been back occasionally since then (with meat-eating boyfriend in tow) and we've loved everything!
I love Chef Sylvia!. Sylvia H., the owner of beets, is warm and friendly - you can taste her love for living food in her dishes. The Raw Rueben is sumptuous.
Run, don't walk to Beets Cafe!.
This is my favorite restaurant! I go whenever I can, wish I lived closer.
Its so easy to get to, just off Mopac, 5th street. I always find free parking on the side of the building (there is also paid parking right in front on the street).
It is beautiful. The food is so amazing! If you go, get a E3Live shot (sooo good for you, you can google it), jalapeno poppers (currently they're a special, not on the main menu, I keep begging them to add it! =), the ELT sandwich is amazing and the Asian Salad. And the cacao cheesecake is insanely amazing!!!!!!
Great, now I'm hungry. Love Beets!!!!!
Amazing!. Beets delivers healthy food with amazing flavor. The quality of ingredients and preparation is impressive. The atmosphere is relaxing and fun with a touch of style. Beets is a great place for lunch or a casual dinner. The staff are friendly and will answer all your raw food questions (I had a lot). If you have never explored raw food, Beets will leave you pleasantly surprised. A must try!
Incredibly creative and delicious. Wasn't sure what to expect and was truly blown away. The space is beautiful and comfortable. It was difficult to make a selection because there are many interesting choices - I guess I'll need to go back... I had the enchiladas (yummy) and finished with the best pumpkin pie I think I've ever had (no sugar?? how do they do that??). It's places like this that give Austin such a good name!
gourmet living foods. Every detail of the space, the food, the menu and the staff is joyously thought out. The food is ultra vibrant and the love that goes into the preparation is evident with each and every bite. What's my favorite item on the menu? ALL OF IT!
good place for delicious life giving food.
The forces that come together to make this menu and this cafe a reality are truly inspiring. The food is great, the deserts are second to none, and the community that surrounds this cafe are all energetic health conscious forward thinking Austinites. You don't have to be vegan or raw to love this restaurant. Check it out. Try the ELT and follow it with the lemon or chocolate cheesecake.
