Worth checking out for the architecture itself, the Arthouse was newly renovated in 2010. The building features a very modern concrete and glass exterior with glass tiles jutting out of the walls of the building. Come at the right time of day, and see these translucent tiles glow from the light of the rising sun. Arthouse features contemporary art, much of it sourced from the Austin community.

In our local art scene, Arthouse straddles the space between old guard and new, situated in a tony spot of central downtown real estate, but with all the rebellious spirit of an east austin complex (albeit a very expensive and clean one). You'll find both local and non art exhibiting here, with a beautiful newish rooftop lounge in which to sip wine and feel fancy.
