About a year ago we looked at
purchasing an older home and had a hydrostatic test performed by Excalibur plumbing for $300. They indicated the house passed the test and we purchased it. Fast forward 10 months and water starts seeping through the foundation in our garage. It turns out one of our cast iron pipes had corroded, causing a giant void under our foundation and cost around $6k to fix. Over the course of fixing the problem, I had 5 independent plumbers give me their best estimate as to how long the problem had been there. They all said based on the large void and the level of corrosion of the pipe, that the leak had been there much longer than a year, probably several years. We feel Excalibur’s hydrostatic test should have caught this problem.
I called Excalibur and requested a refund of $300 for the test. The first call I was told a manager would get back to me, but they never did. I called again a week later and this time spoke to a manger. I told him the story and request a refund of the $300. He said he couldn’t guarantee work done a year ago and that houses shift. That is a fair assessment under normal circumstances, but considering I had 5 other plumbers tell me the leak had been there well over a year, feel a refund would have been appropriate. I will not be using their services again, consider them somewhat incompetent, but I feel their incompetence has cost $6k and that is inexcusable.
Not too impressed... My Condo's were having the water valve in water line replaced to avoid problems in the future. Was charged $180 to have it replaced by Exalibur plumbing. My tenant returned from a trip to find the garage had water and the walls were growing mold due to the faulty job done on the valve. Called Blake who agreed to fix the issue. I made an appointment to meet Blake at the Condo at a 11am. Blake was a no show. I called and left a message and he returned my call and said the job he was on was taking longer than expected and could we reschedule for the next day. We rescheduled for 11am. At 10:50 am I called because I suspected I might be left hanging again and learned he was on another job, running late and wanted to reschedule for later. After a couple more late shows Excalibur did fix the valve and did repair the damage caused by the faulty repair. They even supplied a fan when requested to help dry the walls and insulation. I was dissapointed in Blake for not calling when he knew he could not make the appointments each time and leaving me sitting there. I'm disappointed that the intitial job was faulty and caused damage when the work was not difficult or technical. I am happy that they did fix the problems and had they been more considerate of my time I would have not been as displeased.
