Tips for Rudy's Country Store & Bar-B-Q

Roadside smoked barbecue in a manufactured barn.. In Short
This looks and feels like a rural barbecue joint, from the rustic siding and red cinderblock walls to the exposed ducts. A long tin chest holds bottles of beer and soft drinks immersed in sparkling ice. Order at the counter, then retreat to picnic tables either indoors or outside. Large groups can really spread out. Meat's the thing here, and everything--brisket, turkey, pork ribs and jalapeño sausage--has a genuine smoky flavor all by itself.

The best BBQ in Austin. (Greasy) hands down.. Where else can you get your pick of extra moist OR extra lean brisket? (Hint to the previous reviewer -- you should have chosen the extra lean if you don't like fat!) It's the little details that make Rudy's the king of Austin BBQ. From the Dublin Dr. Pepper to the perfectly buttery creamed corn, it's all about the food. The space is comfortable too -- big long picnic tables inside and outside. And the sauce! (Sause) It is the perfect blend of sweet and spicy and vinegary yet still thick enough to stick. They also do a mean pork rib, as well as turkey and sausage. Even the price is right -- I've used their Group Meal to feed several parties and always had plenty left for snacks the next day. And if you are out of gas, they have a gas station too! Amazing!

Disappointed. After hearing many people tell me that Rudy's is the best BBQ in Texas, I finally got to try it and I was so disappointed. The food was below average. The super moist brisket was tender but too fatty for my taste and the sides were just plain and bland. By far, this is not the best BBQ in Texas.

Best BBQ world wide. I have had my share of BBQ country wide and Rudy's is by far the best. I would put there BBQ up against anyones. The taste is the greatest and when you add there famous Rudy's sauce you will se why the are the best. Regular pork ribs with the sauce and then some regular brisket in side a couple of pieces of bread, onions, pickles, manoaise, and of course some Rudy's sauce is my usual.

Extra Moist Brisket is the headliner. I had my first extra moist beef brisket at this Rudy's two years ago and I finally had the chance for a return visit a couple weeks ago (I live in San Francisco). It was as good as I had remembered! Moist, flakey, tender, smokey, and beefy!! Using just a little bit of sauce, the brisket is the best here!! Very good Texas style pork ribs as well. Sausage was just ok. No big deal with the cole slaw or beans. Lots of space at this restaurant. Next time in Austin, I'll be back at Rudy's!

Turkey. If you are going to get anything at Rudy's get the turkey. All you need is to order 1 pound and they will give you half a loaf of bread. You can make as many sandwiches as you want and it is really cheap.

Not the worst, Not the best. Rudy's is a great standby if you're looking for a quick barbeque fix. If you're looking for great barbeque and you've got time on your hands, use it wisely and look elsewhere.

Rudy's is the best BBQ in Austin. Rudy's is the best BBQ in Austin hands down. If you like the Salt Lick, you will LOVE Rudy's. Try their moist beef brisket; it's to die for!!! The cream corn and potato salad are fantastic too! And don't forget the banana pudding for dessert!

Chock Fulla Hot Guys!. My mouth is still watering over the food as well as the men! There was a really fine cashier named Dan that I wanted to ask out but lost my nerve! I hope he thinks I was cute as well. His recommendations for the food was fantastic; I'm sure I could give him some recommendations of my own! I recommend this restaurant to all the ladies--be sure to scope out the hotties!
