Counter Culture is one of those Austin food trailer success stories, having graduated from a teensy North Loop food trailer to a Cesar Chavez brick n' mortar. Their menu is "vegan comfort food," so while you think the bread crumb-covered mac n' cheese would be a fan favorite, it's the more aggressively vegan Philly Seitan sandwich that wins hearts and taste buds. (Maybe because the seitan patty is homemade). Unlike a lot of vegan places, the prices here are startlingly reasonable.

Counter Culture is off the chain in terms of vegan cuisine. Even dairy lovers will squeal over the cashew cheese! Other tasty dishes include the Mexican Shepherd's Pie, jalapeño cornbread and weekend brunch.
