Austin >Texas Land & Cattle Steak House
My dining experience was less than spectacular.
My dining experience was less than spectacular at the N. 183 location.
We were greeted at the door and requested a table. I guess they were in a hurry to get us in and out because the table was still wet from being wiped off and the floor looked like they sprinkled lettuce confetti around half the table - it really needed to be cleaned up before seating anyone there. No other table in the dining room had any litter around it. It made me feel like a red headed step child that we were made to sit in that messy area. When I mentioned it to the person seating us, she just smiled and went on her way. Now I wish I had snapped a picture of it.
It took some time before the waiter finally showed up, but since we were not in a hurry, it wasn't an issue. He did go a good job of tending to our table for the most part.
I ordered the chicken and ribs and my wife had the fried shrimp with baked potato.
My meal came out with the chicken smelling like it was burning paper (I even looked around to see what was burning and it turned out to be the chicken right there in front of me) and the ribs were kind of dry as well. The chicken had a burnt taste that was so bad, I told the waiter and he offered to bring out another chicken...I agreed. As I waited for the chicken, I started on the ribs...they were dry and over spiced, but I ate them anyway...I guess that's one cooks interpretation of good ribs (not mine).
My wife's shrimp came out with plenty of shrimp - about 10pcs...I guess that's only possible by using less expensive frozen-pre-hand-breaded shrimp like at a fast food place -- This was a 14.99 meal mind you. She also complained that her baked potato seemed like it had been sitting around for at least a day or two.
The second chicken breast was very nicely done, was juicy and not over cooked. I guess it's because the manager oversaw this one through.
Like I said, very much less than spectacular.
Great service and food.
Me and my fiance went here on Fathers Day. There was about a 20 minute wait but worth it.
The hostess was very friendly and polite while getting our info and then seating us.
Our server was fantastic! She had 2 other tables that were large but kept up with our small table great - we weren't lost as we were concerned we would be since she had those 2 other large tables. Our drinks were always full and we never had plates on our table for long.
I had the sirloin MR and my fiance had the NY Strip MW and bother were done correctly and served hot. MMMmmm! My order was brought out without the potatoe topping I wanted but that was fixed immediatly by the lady who brought out our food.
The manager checked on us and it looked like she chacked on every table while we were there.
I would absolutly go back.
not so tasty. My husband and I visited this restaurant Friday night around 7:30 and were shocked that there was no wait. I ordered the ribeye and he ordered the cheese enchiladas with a side of skirt steak. Our waitress took awhile to get to us, maybe 3 to 4 minutes, and was clueless. I asked her for a straw and she stated that she did not have one, so I pointed out the one sticking out of her apron. She also took my order incorrectly, I asked for a Ceaser salad and she brought me a house salad. The steak was cooked unevenly and was a poor quality cut. My husbands enchiladas were disgusting, they were basically wolf brand chili with velveeta, ugh..The only tasty part of the meal was the unsliced bread they brought to the table before the meal. I do not recommend this place if you like a quality steak.
good steaks, BAD customer service. I went late on a Saturday and it wasnt that busy. The waitress took our order for an appitizer but didnt give us appetizer plates. No straws for our drinks either. The steaks were great and so were the sides but the waitress appeared rarely. The manager came by and asked us if everything was fine.. we didnt want to say anything considering the waitress was just a couple of feet away. Maybe other TLC locations are better than the one on 183?
Terrible Customer Service/ Cold Food.
Absolutely awful customer service...the worst!! We waited a long time for food that was equivalent to an iHop steak (at least the steak I ordered), sat next to an empty filthy table for 45 minutes, got lip from the manager and will never ever return.

Waiters are cocky and overbearing. Only some.... You will either get lucky or you're out of luck with the wait staff. Carlos is the BEST waiter there and if you get anyone else, you will suffer. The waitresses I've had the last 3x I have went are rude and overbearing. They even threw my straws at me! I love the food, hate the attitude. Good luck...
Avoid For Special Occasions.
After doing the usual review search this was the closest to me coming in from Round Rock
Parents 35th anniversary
Made reservations a week before for 10
When we showed up to barely a half full house our table was reserved (hopes are high!)
we were then shown to our table by the hostess . who promptly disappeared.
After waiting for 20 minutes without nary a soul asking for our drink order or just welcoming i said enough and we left.
The manager manged to intercept us @ the parking but too late for him and this franchise.
I felt like i was misled by the rating they got ( a first for me using this site)
Felt i had to let others know.
Great atmosphere and prices are surprisingly low. I'm from Ohio, we don't have Texas Land & Cattle's up there...this was a great Texas experience for me and I truly enjoyed the atmostphere as well as the food.
Great Steaks!. This is the best place to go to get great service, a great atmosphere and awsome steaks. The bread is outstanding and the place is very kid friendly! One of our favorite places to eat.
Great Value. Solid steaks at a solid price and kid friendly too. We like to eat here on occasion and are never disappointed.
