The Scene
White tablecloths, dark mahogany bar and big crystal bowl of colorful jelly beans are a few of the things greeting patrons entering the heavy wood door. The refurbished 1890s space is rumored to have been a popular brothel in its day. The split staircase leads upstairs to balcony-side dining tables. Downstairs, large round tables cater to large groups. Service is impeccable.
The Food
The local favorite is the filet. Cooked to perfection, the eight- or 12-ounce filet is touted as the best steak in town. Sides are served family style. Savory mushrooms are marinated and sauteed for soft, yet firm, flavorable buttons. Potatoes au gratin are smothered in a creamy cheese, lightly seasoned and served gooey hot. Asparagus comes perfectly cooked and sprinkled with almonds. Do not pass on desserts. The whipped cheesecake is served on a coconut-graham cracker crust on top, a light strawberry syrup.

I don't understand the previous negative reviews. Unfortunately some people don't get out much. I travel two weeks a month and dine out from coast to coast. I have eaten at Del Frisco's in New York and Las Vegas and have always had an excellent time. Last week was my first trip to Fort Worth and Del Frisco's was recommended by the concierge as the best restaurant in town. I was dining alone and upon entering the restaurant was greeted with a smiling face. Must have been a busy night, so I found a seat at the bar for a cocktail as the hostess worked on finding me a table. One cocktail later I was being seated. Food was excellent. I had a sweet/spicy calamari appetizer. Too much for one person to eat but I'll make a trip back to Fort Worth for that alone. A New York strip cooked perfectly. Delicious Au Gratin potatoes and creamed spinach. Washed it all down with a half bottle of Cabernet. (Half bottles are a great idea for the single diner and they must have close to 100 selections!) All in all what I expect from Del Frisco's, but most importantly, when I returned home I received a thank you card from my waiter Kevin. Class act.
Pros: great food, gracious service

My husband took me to Del Friscos for our anniversary-- we had heard great things about it, and were excited to try it. We ordered our steak medium-well-- I told the waiter I just wanted a little pink in the center. The steak came out bright pink all over-- we ended up sending it back 4 times, and at that point, the outside was so charred it didn't taste good. We were so disappointed. I could have gotten a steak at Saltgrass for 1/4 of the price and been pleased. We won't go there again.
