I recently went to this vet clinic on the recommendation of a colleague. My family recently moved here and have several pets. My older cat had been sick for a while and we'd been taking him to our vet in Dallas for kidney problems. He went downhill fast after our move. My wife and I knew that it was time to have him put to sleep. I've never had to do this before, so I wasn't sure how to go about it. I made the call to Central Texas Animal Hospital and the lady on the phone was so helpful - really professional and caring. She explained our options (cremation, etc) and scheduled our appointment. My wife and I met with Dr. Modak and he was so great with our cat. After examining him, he explained what would happen and assured us that we were doing the right thing. The receptionist had us fill out a form and let us pay our bill in the exam room (my wife was quite upset) so we didn't have to stand up front with other people coming and going. She also gave us some pointers to help our kids deal with the loss of their pet and offered to loan us some children's books. Everyone up there helped to make this unpleasant experience a little more bearable. I will definitely be bringing the rest of my pets there and I will recommend them to others. -David

Rest assured, there will always be someone who has a different opinion. However based on 19 years of experience with Dr. Neans, he is THE best. He has the amazing ability to accurately diagnose a problem with my dog in less than a minute without testing. His experience makes him superior. The staff: Cathy, Vicki, Michelle, to name a few, are also high caliber. It’s true the building is small and somewhat outdated. But if it’s the care of your animal that is the concern, this clinic is the best by any standard. I read a review complaining about the price of care involving Dr. Banks and her advise of continued care. Keep in mind, there are 2 sides to every story. Through the years I have spent many thousands of dollars at CTAH as I have multiple dogs, all rescued and with health issues. However, having said that, the usual cost of exam and any associated lab fees is by far less than any other vet. Since I moved out of Pflugerville I briefly researched going to a facility closer to my home. This idea was dismissed when I came to my senses! Admittedly though, I did compare prices and CTAH is approx. 20-25% less than others in terms of vaccinations, exams, lab, Xrays and dentals. These people care about animals and are competent which, in my opinion, trumps all. I will be really sad when the day comes that Dr Neans retires, however he has set the expectation on the care delivered at his clinic. –Debbie H

Being a senior citizen on a fixed income, I called several vets to get their charges on vaccinations for my two little dogs. I chose this clinic because they appeared to be reasonable in their charges. However, when I went in to pick up my dogs, the charges were double the amount quoted to me on the phone. They added additional services that was not quoted on the telephone when I called them for prices on standard vaccinations. What choice did I have but to pay the bill and take my babies home. I had also requested estimates on teeth cleaning and cherry eye surgery and I found the estimate to be way out of my price range. I will not use this clinic again because they did not give me the correct quotes and I found their prices to high for me to pay.

I've been to lots of different veterinarians in my many years and this place really stands out. You can tell that the doctors and staff love animals and love what they're doing. The doctors - there are 4 - are great. Dr. Banks helped my older dog with his (chronic) ear problem. They all seem to work well together. It is a really busy place, but I always feel like I'm getting attention. I took my newly adopted pet there. FREE "wellness" exam for pets from a shelter. I was surprised to get ANYTHING free from a VET! The staff congratulated me on my new pet and took his picture! After his grooming, he had a bow on and he looked and smelled awesome. BTW - groomer is top notch. really cannot say enough about this clinic. I recommend them to my friends. I know my pets are in good hands.

Pros: enthusiastic staff

Cons: older , small building

my dog was ill, so I took her into the vet and DR BANKS saw her and said that it was an infected tooth, and gave her some pain meds and antibiotics to hold her over until we can get her tooth fix, we had brought in our own xrays of my dog so she could see them, and she suggested that we pay $60 to have a radiologist review them to see if there is anything she was missing. so then I realize that she only gave me 4 days worth of pain pills for my dog, I thought this was a mistake so I call up there and was told I need to buy 4 more pills at $22 ( and they are only 1/2 pills, so 2 full pills $22, crazy, but I paid it) so then I set her for her blod work and teeth cleaning on Monday, I can see that her tooth is really bothering her so I try to get her in on Friday, but they could not do it, but they could do her blod work , I said I was going to try to find a vet that could do both at the same day because my dog gets very stresses going to the vet. So I did find a dr that could do both, and i take her in for her blod work,(which all came back normal) and they could not do her teeth until later in the afternoon, so I brought my dog home until she could be seen so she was not stressed out. So then the vet that could see my dog calls CENTRAL TEXAS ANIMAL HOSPITAL to get the records from DR BANKS. And DR BANKS tells the new vet that NO she recommends that I go see a specialists and not to do my dogs teeth. KEEP IN MIND DR BANKS HAD ALREADY SET AN APP FOR MY DOGS TEETH TO GET DONE BY HER THE SAME MORNING!!! so now its Fri. afternoon, my dog is still in pain because DR BANKS is so greedy that she would rather my dog go untreated then to a different vet!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO TO THIS DR!!!!

Pros: NOTHING

Cons: DR ONLY CARE ABOUT GETTING MONEY, THEY ARE IN THE WRONG BUSINESS
