For Drinks, Not Eats

Moon river and I didn't get off to a good start. Upon driving in the drive, I felt like I was in somebody's backyard and stepping in from a sunny day, the place felt dark and I looked over my shoulder expecting somebody to ambush me. Ambiance is not a strong suit, well suited for a couple hours of brooding over a whiskey and a lost love, but not much for a night of dining. Definitely a bar, and not food a destination. Food is about what you'd expect from your average bar.
- Pros: Booze
- Cons: Food

This new management and bartenders are lovely people who have made a huge change at this ol' waterin hole...They work hard to please everyone and anyone. Can't wait to eat, drink, and dance on the bar after missing in action for a year.
- Pros: Friendly locals, great prices, WONDERFUL bartenders
- Cons: Closes at 2am

The best neighborhood bar in a beautiful setting 5 minutes from Pace Bend Park and Lake Travis. If it isn't in your neighborhood...you should work on that. Awesome backyard and user friendly any season. The staff and managers will do everything they can to make sure you get great service and treat you like you are one of the locals... Good music and don't be afraid to get up on that bar and D.A.N.C.E. !!!
- Pros: Real people, real food, real fun
- Cons: 2:00 AM comes way too soon at the Moon
Have You Been To The Moon Lately?
by Keepin Spacewood Special
I've never had more fun in Spicewood, Texas than I've had I Moon River! The atmosphere here is one of, "Anything could happen and it's probably about to!"
Great live music, with a good sized dance floor every Friday & Saturday. Huge backyard covered by many, many fully mature oaks. Lots and lots of parking. A great younger to middle-aged crowd, and all the status' mix here in a true melting-pot. Very 78704.
They serve great food and it's been very consistent since the new management took over in 2009. Children are welcomed though they discourage them after 9pm when most kids should be sleeping anyways. They have great live music on Fridays and Saturday and karaoke on Thursdays and Sundays.
The "Bells of Joy" are one of their best Sunday gigs, and are there about once a month on "Gospel Sunday". They do a great Crabby Sunday every third Sunday of the months. Dinner specials every Monday-Thursday are GREAT, especially Steak Night on Mondays! Yum! And they do $2 wells & domestics M-F 4p-6p and ALL DAY on Tuesdays.
The owners tell me that they have big plans for the place. Business is up, and as the money comes in they're gonna make some big improvements. They could use some improvement, I gotta tell you. The place needs a facelift to be all it can be. But the minor improvements already made have been a welcome change! Encouraging.
If you're a biker, this is the place for you. If you got a big truck, you can park it here. If you're camping on the lake, drop by after dark and then crawl back to the tent. If you need some food for the whole darn family, this is the affordable alternative to the rest of Spicewood, and if you're looking to get your party on, this is the place to drop your dime.
Hope to see you there...
- Pros: Location, Prices, Lake Crowd, Good Food
- Cons: Run Down, Needs a Facelift
Beautiful Trees and Amazing Food
by bl1046
This place is amazing. It is covered in Oak Trees and has 2 stages for live music. Plus they serve breakfast Saturday and Sunday. The food and service were excellent and the price was very reasonable.
- Pros: Full Bar and Grill
