Not bad, rooms are more 3 star
by laurenleigh at Citysearch
Purchased the hotel room on priceline... Searched for 4 star hotels. would have We prefer the Hilton. They had a hard time finding us a king size bed, but they eventually found one. They were going to upgrade us.
The rooms look very basic. Comfortable enough, just very standard.
The one part that freaked us out was that there was a ghost in the room. FYI - Room 506 is haunted.
Seriously.
We woke in the middle of the night to find the desk pulled out 4 feet from the wall and the lamp knocked on the ground. The inside door was locked, had not been opened. Neither of us sleepwalk.
I personally will not stay here again, but I reccomend it to travelers to Austin for the great location. If the price is similar, I would stay at the Hilton Downtown.
:)
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Basic, Ghosts, Price
BEwARE OF THIS HOTEL
by jennydallas at Citysearch
I frequent Austin for weekend getaways and chose the Omni for the first time, as I got a great rate on Hotwire. First I will say the rooms were small but nice. The housekeeping was very friendly, as were the bellhops. However, the first night I came back to lobby after a night out with friends. I am in my 30s, and not some college kid cruising in drunk from 6th street. Long story short, a very low class group of girls drunk and looking for a fight were provoking my friends in elevator. As we continued to ignore them, this angered this and I ended up being punched. After filing a police report, she wasnt kicked out of hotel! The mgr and general mgr were RUDE and not accomodating after the girl threatened to finish me off later. THey said I could change hotels at MY expense. So you can get kicked out for noise as policy says at check in, but clock someone in face and you can stay! Mgmt handled POORLY. Also, they put made up charges on our bill. Had to argue that as well. The guests at pool were so trashy like something at a motel 6. NEVER EVER AGAIN would I stay here. Very disappointing stay.
- Pros: friendly housekeeping
- Cons: everythign else under the sun
Avoid weekends and 6th Street drunks
by chefescoffier at Citysearch
This place may work for weekday business, but avoid it at all costs on weekends with families. This very sterile business hotel is located a block or two from the famous/infamous 6th Street party scene. The guests reminded me of what you'd see in a Las Vegas casino: loud, boisterous and inappropriate.
Our daughter was accosted by a drunk on the way back to her room with a pizza. The price of passage was a slice. The management appeared unimpressed with the report. I guess it is not uncommon.

This is a great hotel to stay in. It is central to everything downtown. We used it to house our out of town wedding guests. The hotel assigned a coordinator for the rooms, and set up a great rate. They gave us a 3 room suite for free for booking the rooms with them, and a free night to use at a later date. The hotel is fun and relaxed, with attentive staff. Rooms are standard, but the rooftop pool and jacuzzi are fun! They created a great atmosphere for a large wedding party.
Best Concierge Staff
by fbyrne at Citysearch
We've sayed at the omni a bunch. The staff on the concierge lounge are super. Happy hour nice. New chef is very talented. Maid service right on point. Rooms are quite nice for a city hotel. Great facilities.
- Pros: Concierge, Roof top pool, Great new chef
- Cons: other hotel staff will seen sub par after staying at the Omni
Loved it!

Very friendly and helpful staff, they have a pretty well stocked gym. You can even have a treadmill delivered to your room as well as a "Get Fit Kit". Take great care in accomodating travelers...breakfast was delivered to my room as requested on the card; no one ever disturbed me...they just knocked and left it there. If you're a Starwood member, you receive 2 complimentary beverages and have the option to select USA Today or Wall Street Journal. Restaurant in hotel has a minimal selection, but bar is lovely. Hotel is located in business district and there aren't food options in the immediate vicinity but if you walk a bit, you'll find what you're looking for.
- Pros: 24 hour fitness center, treadmill delivered to room, great staff
Local favorite offers sweeping downtown views and luxury accommodations for business or pleasure.

We had our wedding here
by spacecitygirl at Citysearch
We had our wedding at the Omni, and it was fabulous. Our guests were treated well, and the rooms were great. We loved the location because we could walk to sixth street and the capitol. We were given a complimentary suite. I still get compliments on the food that we served at our wedding. Everyone says that its the best wedding food they've ever had. We served steak, and everyone was impressed with how good it tasted, and how it wasn't overcooked. I highly recommend this hotel, especially if you're looking for somewhere to get married.
Best...service...ever
by timhinson at Citysearch
My wife and I just got back from our weekend stay in Austin. I've never seen service like this at any hotel. The check-in was quick. The bellhop was knowledgable and courteous. The room was spacious and very clean. Tip: ask for an even numbered room (better view). It rained a little so we didn't get to take advantage of the roof-top pool and jacuzzi, but I'd definately recommend it. Breakfast in the hotel was delicious but expensive. The concierge service is first rate! He got us a reservation at an upscale resturant even though they said they were booked! This place was perfect for a weekend getaway!
- Pros: Service, Location, Amenities
- Cons: expensive parking

Recently I was came to Austin for a wedding and basically went with what I found to be a decent deal on the internet. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the deal I got was very enjoyable. The rooms were clean, the staff professional, and the service was great. I will be back for sure if I ever return to the Omni.
