12/26/08 was a Friday night so pootron must have been making this up. He said he ate on a Saturday night. I dined at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse on 12/27/08 and was the best steak I have ever had. I had the bone in ribeye and it was amazing. The service was prompt and casual not stuffy like Perry's. I would diffenantley fo back.
- Pros: Casually formal
- Cons: A little Pricey
Very Disappointing!
by pooteron
We have eaten at a lot of restaurants that specialize in steak. We have even eaten in the bar at Ruth's Chris for happy hour. We were extremely disappointed in our recent dinner here. The steak was ok, but not much flavor and the side dishes were terrible. The potatoes au gratin had a weird aftertaste so the waiter brought us garlic mashed potatoes....again an aftertaste. The broccoli was plain, mushrooms boring. I would not waste $200 for a meal here. Go to Texas Land and Cattle.
- Pros: Got a reservation at the last minute on a Saturday night....should have known why.
- Cons: Food
Sophisticated American chain serves up corn-fed USDA prime cuts and New Orleans-style appetizers and sides.
by Tara Lis
In Short
This offshoot of a popular New Orleans hangout for politicians features decor of dark woods and comfortable booths, with a separate bar scene. Choice cuts of custom-aged beef arrive in sizzling butter on 500-degree plates. The menu also offers chicken, pork and seafood entrees along with Creole appetizers like shrimp remoulade. Family-style sides include gargantuan onion rings, creamed spinach and various styles of potatoes. Traditional homemade desserts like cheesecake and bread pudding conclude the meal.
- Pros: full barpower scenes
- Cons: overpricedinconsistent
Our 16-yr old makes a better steak!!!!!! Won't go back!

Honestly I struggle between 2 and 3 stars. We really had high hopes for our dinner at Ruth's Chris but were sadly disappointed. The meat was basically flavorless - our 16 yr old could have made a better steak! Seasoned with only salt and pepper - just blah! I have to agree with another posting about the au gratin potatoes - cheap cheese, no seasoning - the only saving grace was the salt/pepper we added at the table. Salad was basic - nothing special - just a basic salad you could get at any lower priced restaurant for a heck of a lot less. Our waiter was good but overall the service was nothing to brag about. Certainly not what you would except for this caliber restaurant. The ancillary wait staff served and removed our food from the incorrect side, in fact reached across the table from the other direction to remove dirty plates. The table itself was never cleaned of crumbs throughout our entire meal. We did get plenty of water served though! The somewhat rushed atmosphere made it feel much more like a semi fast food restaurant which was another thing that made the experience disappointing. Our waiter knew we were disappointed and mentioned it to the manager who expressed his concern and did comp us for one dinner. That was nice but it just doesn't make up for such a disappointing experience....we won't go back EVER.
- Pros: Didn't have to wait to be seated
- Cons: Below average food / marginal service
There is difference between "fine dining" and "expensive dining"
by pi168
My hubby had fond memories of Chicago and Huston and had wanted to take me out for a specail diner. This was not it. Louie tried, bless his heart, you can't blame the wait staff for dirty knives and horrid food they just get stuck on the front line. We came away with this. The meat was cooked perfectly and the wine Louie recomended was great. Go in order a plate of meat and some wine and call it a done deal ,because the extras are only little more than a step up from a sorority house schwan man delivery. When did a few roamain leafs with a drizzle of some flavour void oil become a Ceaser salad? When did a few canned musssshy potatoes with greasy cheap cheader become Potatos Augratin? Mushrooms? Turn a few ,again flavourless, white button mushrooms over in some melted butter and serve al dente? Shame on you Ruth's Chris for calling this flavourless stuff "fine dining" We actually brought a doggie bag home for our dog. She loved the meat but agreed with us on the potatos and mushrooms.
Best steak I've ever had.

Maybe I haven't eaten a lot of steaks in my life, but this place has the best steak anywhere. I never realized steak could taste so good. Definitely very pricey, but it's well worth it. I can't ever eat another steak without comparing it to Ruth's Chris. Highly recommended.

Nothing Special
by alysalee
We don't mind paying more for a great meal. Heard this was the place for a good steak, so we went to celebrate my husband's birthday. He wanted to go to Gumbos for steak, but I convinced him to try something new. The food was way over priced, great service and atmosphere. Don't go here for a special occasion, it's not a special place. The steak was only average.
Great place to Celebrate
by menwa
I took my husband there recently to celebrate passing his FAA flight exam. I placed a reservation online ahead of time and put a note as to why we where coming here to celebrate. The waitstaff was so attentive I didnt know what to do, it was totally unusual to me. Our waiter answered all of our questions and made sure my husband never had an empty glass of coke. As we prepaired to leave, they offered us desert, which we always pass on. That is when they told my husband that to celebrate his passing he would get one on the house. No other restaurant that I have been to for a special occasion has done any such thing. While the food is expensive, you will NOT be disapointed. Highly recommend to all who LOVE a great steak.
- Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Staff
- Cons: Parking
GREAT TEXAS BEEF
by timemeansmoney
We had a great time and the steak was delicious. Our server was attentive and the location was very convienent to downtown. I only feel that a lovely sauce to accommodate such a nice piece of beef would be welcomed, other than that it was exciting, busy, and I would reccommend dining here.
