Four Seasons -Austin
by Southpaw Soriano
I'm an Event planner, I have the reponsibility of scouting and recommending venues all over the world for my clients. The Four Seasons-Austin is one of my faves! The Hotel is fabulous, the customer service is world class, I can assure you being Brazilian-American, and a Miami native I come from a world of diversity and free spirits... so I recognize a person's freedom to live and enjoy their life. But for the Four Seasons to be homophobic is craziness and almost unbelievable to me, I wonder if this was just an "off day" for them. I know the Mgr and am familiar with the concierge staff; I have never gotten the feeling that they were homophobic in the least, however, if I'm wrong, my apologies. I can remind you that discretion is well advised if you're in the Lobby of a place such as The Four Seasons, after all, it is not the red light district in Shanghai. So if I may, I totally get the "affection" thing, no matter what your sexual orientation, but discretion is always a "first class" idea. And although Austin is a very "diverse" and "free spirited" locale, The Four Seasons is a first class Resort and one should act accordingly. I would guess, your sexual orientation is accepted by more people these days than you know, I say love and be loved, just err on the side of what's tasteful...and not "tacky" no matter where you go. But then, this is my humble oppinion, I welcome yours.
Comfortable Space

I stayed here while visiting my daughter and it was a great experience over all. The location itself was quite convenient to all the Austin visits. I felt that it was a little pricey but it was the Four Seasons, what else would you expect. I would recommend if you wanted something on the formal side.
- Pros: Great Location
- Cons: Price
Everything was amazing

They never let us down. We love staying here as well as just going for some drinks. We loved it so much that it's where my wife and I got married. We stayed there for a week along with our wedding party and everyone had nothing but great things to say about it. It's a great weekend getaway without leaving town.
Gay Homophobia

I'm not sure where to begin or what parts to omit from this story but I will do my best to capture the event in a short and precise summary.
Friday night (April 3rd), a friend of mine came into town. We went out for dinner at a local restaurant and afterward decided to go downtown. As we drove downtown we decided to stop in at the Four Season on Caesar Chavez for a drink or two before deciding what to do for a nigh tout. We ordered a couple drinks, sat around and chatted for a bit. It was too loud in the bar so we walked over to the lobby area to discuss where we would end up going. It had been a long day and I was tired so I sat down while my friend tried to convince me to head to a bar. He sat on my lap for a few seconds while we finished the conversation. We couldn't have been in the lobby for more than thirty seconds before a customer happen to walk by and call us trash. I didn’t' hear everything she said because I was in shock but from what I did gather she told us we were disgusting faggots and should be ashamed. She even went as far to ask if we were on mushrooms. The only response we gave was that she was in Austin and she needed to mind her business. As she walked away an employee with the Four Seasons asked us to leave. We asked why and he said that our lifestyle was bothering customers. My friend offered to by a room so that we would be on equal terms. They denied the offer and said we just need to leave. We both argued that it was ridiculous that we were being asked to leave for being gay especially because only one person complained. The employee said more would have if they saw to gay men sitting there. The employee walked off for a few seconds as we discussed just heading out and not causing a scene. After a few seconds four employees surrounded us to escort us from the building. After some discussion we decided to leave with out causing a scene.
If you want to know more details about this story I'm more than happy to explain it in full.
- Pros: Not any at this time
- Cons: Very closed minded
So worth it!

This is such a nice getaway, and it is right in the heart of the city. The rooms are wonderful, the brunch is amazing, the grounds are beautiful and the staff is friendly.

Swanky uptown hotel lounge offers relaxed elegance to business types and romantic couples.

In Short
Majestic, high-backed leather chairs and tasteful sofas aid the soft lighting, greenery and fireplace in creating an intimate setting. Tables are a good distance apart, affording privacy. Though popular with politicos and businessmen after work, the lounge is also a relaxing way to begin a romantic evening. The menu is famous for martinis like the Austin Sunset--Skyy vodka, Grand Marnier and cranberry juice. Hors d'oeuvres include duck quesadillas and pot stickers.
A first-class hotel on the beautiful grounds bordering Town Lake.

In Short
While the exterior of the Four Seasons has a Mediterranean feel, the lobby is decorated in a Southwestern motif. The tile and earth tones emphasize this first-rate hotel's casual, yet classy, feel. The 291 plush rooms are available with city or lake views. It was built in the '70s, when high ceilings weren't really in vogue, but the amenities--24-hour concierge, fitness center, outdoor pool, on-call massage therapist and spa packages--are quite modern.
Great new renovations
by steveo45
I've stayed at the Four Seasons off and on for a while, and the staff is consistently the top of the line for politeness and friendly service. The standard room is a little small, but very comfortable and has everything you need. Much more comfortable than the Driskill, Omni, SF Austin. The new restaurant is pretty good, and the new spa is the best. Very smart choice to renovate that spa!
- Pros: Great spa and workout room
Very Romantic and upscale
by craftychick
My husband and I like to go here after a nice dinner downtown and it never disappoints. The atmosphere feels very romantic and quiet, and is a welcome alternative to the downtown "hot spots" and is a great place for couples. The piano music is also very nice and the service is outstanding.
- Pros: Atmosphere, service, great drinks
- Cons: None
