Just had another great haircut from Mary. I am very picky about my hair and Mary has always made sure to find out exactly what I want and makes sure I'm satisfied. I have never felt pressured to buy anything from Mary, rather I appreciate that she lets me know about the great products she carries. I've been pleased with everything I have ever bought from her. And I know to tell my husband to go to Mary when he wants to buy me a gift, as she carries some very beautiful crystal jewelry that I have not seen anywhere else. Bring pictures of haircuts that you like the first few times you see Mary to make sure she knows what you want. Her shop has a relaxed, professional atmosphere and I feel very comfortable there. BTW: my husband has his hair cut by Mary also, and he loves her too!

Pros: Warm welcoming environment, great haircuts, good price

I had Alissa (sp?) do my hair last night for a wedding I attended. I was very impressed-- she's good at brushing long hair, doesn't yank or break hairs but works through snarls gently. She did a wonderful job of putting my very long, very thick hair up into a nice, fancy-but-informal updo. It was nothing like the typical quinceanera "crazy-curls" look-- it was elegant yet relaxed, and it looked like I might have done it myself, only better, which is what I wanted. My only suggestion for next time (which I will tell Alissa on Monday) is to use only bobby pins, not the U-shaped hair pins, since my hair is so heavy, it needed more support towards the end of the night. But she even gave me a little bag of hairpins to bring along so it was OK. She listened to my description of what I wanted and was careful to solicit my input along the way. She even offered a complimentary lip makeup session which I would have accepted if I was not a few hours ahead of the wedding.

Pros: Mellow atmosphere, perfect hairstyle, reasonably priced, no pressure to buy product

Cons: none really!

I have been a customer of Mary's for 17 years - that's scary! The reason is that she always get's it right and cuts my hair the way I want it so there's no reason to go elsewhere. Mary has always steered me right with her advice on hair products and the shaving cream she turned me onto is the best stuff I've ever used! It seems there's not a whole lot that can be counted on anymore, but I know I can always count on a great haircut from Mary, and after talking to some of my friends, the price is definitely right!

I recently went to Mary's and got my hair cut and colored. On top of it looking exactly how I wanted it to when I left, it passed the true test, which is that I was also able to style it myself and still have it look great! I also witnessed a girl there getting her hair colored who said that no other salon could ever get it to be the perfect color blonde that she wanted...she left looking super satisfied with her color. Anyway, the atmosphere was laidback and relaxed (not stuffy like most salons) and the staff was super friendly and helpful. I will definately be going back and if you have never been here you should really give it a try, you will absolutely love it.

I've been going to Mary's for over 5 years. I get my color and cut there. To date, I've recommended over 12 people to the salon with my common suggestion: "Doesnt really matter who you go to....they are all fabulous" The staff is friendly, fun & highly skilled. No complaints here!

A friend of mine reffered me to Marys, and I went there to get a haircut by the owner. I wasnt very happy with the cut because it wasnt what I asked for and she put too many layers in my hair so now its really thin. I wont go back now, even though my friend still goes there. Parking is bad there too.

Pros: Close to campus

Cons: No good haircuts, parking

I've been going to Mary's Hair Studio for years and there is a reason I keep coming back. The staff is great and they've always done a beautiful job with both my hair cuts and color. I've never been disappointed and always leave looking and feeling like a movie star. I love the Aveda products they use and have even bought some to use at home. Highly recommended.

Marys Hair Studio is definetly not worth going back to! The whole time I was waiting to get my hair colored, the lady was pushing item after item on me to purchase. The haircolor turned out splotchy, and she even missed a whole chunk on my neck area! I had called the salon ahead of time to get a price and told them my hair was very thin and shoulder-length, and was told the price would be $60. When the service was done, I was told the total would be $90! When I asked why the price had jumped so high, they tried to say it was because they used a deep conditioner on me that I didnt even ask for!! I felt completly ripped off and 2 weeks later I bought a color from the store to cover up the horrible job that they did! I definetly will not be going back to that salon!

Cons: unskilled stylists, parking, cramped area

I visited this salon a few weeks ago for a haircut and wasn't really impressed. The atmosphere in the salon is kind of dark and poorly decorated. It looked more like a waiting room for a doctors office than a salon. The receptionist was friendly, and so was the owner. I had my haircut by a young girl that said she was new there. She wasnt very talkative and didnt have any suggestions on what to do with my hair. The haircut was even but definetly nothing special, and I didnt feel like it was worth the $35 they charged. I wont be visiting the salon again.

Pros: Cappacinos are good.

Cons: unskilled staff, unwelcoming atmosphere

I went to Kristin for highlights and she did a fabulous job! She understood what I had described and did exactly what I wanted. She even suggested a few lowlights and picked a chocolate color, I wasnt so sure but she weaved it so it would blend and I love it!!
