I have visited this Spa twice in downtown Austin. It's not cheap, but it's worth every penny. Anytime I need a personal pivk me up day, I go there. The staff is SUPER friendly and I have been very impressed with everyone's professionalism.

this is the worst place in town my wife recently got her hair cut and colored. from the time she step in the store she was treated like trash. my wife is nothing of the sort (nurse at st. davids). she does not go in to the "high class" establishments often so when a friend she works with told her she should try jackson ruiz out she did. the hostess yells at her and then apologizes to her teeny bopper friends that were even customers, she got offered red wine but after 15min of sitting in the chair waiting she finally gets an "we are out." then after sitting there she gets shuffled to another waiting room where the stylist takes someone else after another 15 min a completly new person walks in and takes her to the back to get her hair colored... IT WAS DONE WRONG!!!! my wife is very perticular about her coloring and to spend so much to get it done to not her satisifcation just upsets me to no ends. she then waits in the waiting room 10 min then a very rude black lady walks in to dry her hair. she says "lets go" does it then leaves... my wife just sitting there.... finally the original stylist walks in and takes her to the front.... please do not go to this establishment!!! if you want your hair colored wrong do it at home... atleast you could have some fun...
Pros: nice looking rooms
Cons: everyone that works there

I was headed to Austin and was in need of a revival, a look revival, a me revival. It was my 50th birthday and I definitly wanted an experience to kick off yet another chapter in my life. A salon savvy friend of mine recommended Jackson Ruiz (an Aveda salon). I made an appointment for a cut and color, but got so much more! When I arrived I was taken to my colorist, Todd, who asked me a number of questions to get a feel for what I was looking for. I needed something that would require less maintenance, but would still be oustanding. She brought out the samples and recommended that I go darker (closer to my natural color) adding highlights of a softer blonde and red, which would define the frame my face more and acccentuate my eyes. I also met with my stylist , Charles, who spoke to me about what my goa was in a cut. Sassie, soft, fun, professional. A tall order, but I need versatillity to suit my lifestyle and personality. I couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome! My color is perfect for my skin color and green eyes and my cut is everything I ask for. Did I mention that the shampoo was an experience in itself , relaxing and invigerating all in one, I got a wonderful hand massage during my cut , and was served some very refreshing fruit infused water. I have read other reviews on Jackson Ruiz, mentioning an "assembly line" feeling. Yes, many people service you in this salon - all specializing in their field. I have no issue with one who is a expert in color do what they are best at, then have another whose expertise is styling do my cut. The experience was so refreshing that I scheduled a facial and massage for the next day. Needless to say this was yet another wonderful experience. My facial had my skin feeling fresh & beaming and the massage was the BEST. They even refreshed my makeup afterward. No doubt the goal of this salon is to make you feel special. I left relaxed and feeling beautiful. Jackson Ruiz, Thank You! Revival accomplished!
Pros: Friendly & Professional Staff, Great Product Line

I live in Georgetown and Breeze Salon really messed up my hair...anyway, I drove downtown to Jackson Ruiz Salon and Spa and the moment I walked in it was wonderful! Great service, super nice employees! Gorgeous salon. My hair was corrected and looked great! It's always scary to try a new salon...but I will make the drive again and again before I ever go up the street to Breeze.
Pros: Hours of operation.....Awesome!!!
Cons: none

I have recently moved to Austin from New York City where I got my hair cut at a fancy salon for the past 5 years. I was somewhat hesitant to try a new salon but I did I have never been happier. Mercedes at Jackson Ruiz is extremely talented. She gave be the best haircut I have ever had! I am truly grateful!

Nice salon, friendly staff. Open late on weekdays which is great for those who have to work 9-5 jobs and no tipping policy so you know exactly what you are paying for.
Pros: nice atmosphere, friendly staff, no tipping policy

After a few of my friends tried the salon and absolutely loved it, I decided to give it a try. I have long hair and keeping the length was really important to me but wanted something more flirty and fun! Well I can honestly say I got exactly what I wanted, and even more. I love my haircut and have gotten so many compliments on it. It looked good the first day and it still looks great a month later! They do specialize there, so the stylists that cut, only cut, and those that do color, only color. I only got a hair cut so for me this didn't present a scheduling problem, but I see where it could. My advice would be to call plenty in advance, the longer you wait the more likely they will be booked up. The location is good as well, right next to a coffee shop, ice cream shop, a super cute accessories boutique and Whole Foods. What more could you ask for?
Pros: highly skilled staff, good location, and hand messages!
Cons: staff booking quickly

I am young (22), and i admit that i look young - however this should not dictate the type of service i recieved my stylist didnt listen to a word i said and after 110 dollars for a highlight and a mens haircut i have ending up with something that i would never recommend to anybody, every employee including the receptionist had an extreme attitude problem be prepared for a pretentious staff
Pros: pretty salon
Cons: aveda, staff, prices

I love Jackson Ruiz Salon. Allen has been cutting my hair for years and he does an AMAZING job. I have never been disappointed! Marinana does my highlights and she is such a good colorist!!!! I highly recommend this place. I love the shampoos....very relaxing. You also get a free complementary hand massage and it's awesome. They have a great selection of Aveda hair products.
Pros: very flexible hours, relaxing experience, GREAT haircuts and highlights, beautiful interior
Cons: parking can be tricky sometimes during peak hours

First of all, making an appointment for both a cut and color took a half hour! When I went in for my haircut with Terry, he didn't get to me until 25 minutes after my appointment time. Then, he barely listened to me when I told him what I wanted. It was my first time with him, so I expected him to ask me a lot of questions...he didn't. I specifically told him I wanted the ends razor cut...he didn't. I didn't love my cut, but I thought I'd give it a chance. I made an appointment a couple of days later with Terry to have my cut corrected. I went in with a graduated bob that ended nearly 2 inches below my chin. I told Terry I just wanted it tapered a little more in the back to make the angle more severe and a little weight taken off the ends. He just said "yeah, yeah, right, right" in a dismissive tone and went to work. He cut the back of my hair. Then I see him pick up the hair in front and I think he's going to texture it. Instead he cut 2 INCHES OFF OF MY HAIR! What stylist cuts off any significant length without even asking you?!? I had to let him cut the rest while I sat there trying not to cry. I went in with my hair in a short (1-inch) ponytail. I left with hair that barely meets in the back...no more ponytail. I have never had a less friendly stylist, either. The only good part of this story is that when I called later and explained what happened, the management was very kind. Not only did they reimburse my money, they also gave me a credit for a free haircut in their salon. I have no plans to go back there, but at least that's something. I truly hated the assembly-line aspect of their salon.
Pros: pretty salon, nice shampoo experience
Cons: way too hectic
