I got a temporary contract position at Dell through Spherion. The position was clearly described as "no overtime." Upon asking about the overtime clause in my contract, "Don't worry about it. That doesn't apply to this position." (They were also adamant about not providing copies of the contract for those of us who signed it.) A few weeks later, "You have to work overtime. You signed a contract saying that you were available for overtime. If you can't work those hours we're going to have to terminate your contract." About 1/5 of the people that Spherion placed at Dell at the same time as me had to leave because of this. My Spherion rep also refused to return phone calls and e-mails about the problem. Having spoken with several sales managers at Dell, scheduled hours always increase during the holiday season, and Spherion has been misleading contracted employees about scheduling for years. Yeah I was stupid for taking someone's word over a written contract, and alarm bells should've been going off when they refused to provide copies of the contract. Live and learn I guess. I just hope my experience helps people avoid the mistake I made in trusting Spherion.

Cons: Lies!

Spherion has been, without a doubt, the WORST employment experience that I've had. They are unhelpful and uncaring. I was able to get a job that went perm and was a pretty good fit, but they've been difficult to work with when any issues have come up about (benefits, payroll, etc.). I am overjoyed to not have to deal with them any longer.

Pros: They eventually got me a couple of interviews

Cons: Too many to list
