Green Pastures is the place to get married! Everything ran smooth and Tanya was wonderful in every way. She was great not just with me but with my parents as well. Who can be difficultl. My husband and I held our ceremony in the round under the oak trees at 11am on a Saturday in April. We had a brunch reception with Bloody Mary's and Mimosas with a champagne toast. The food was great, the drinks were delicious, the service was top notch and they even made sure the weather was ideal:) They were so great at handling everything else, I thought for sure they made the sun shine that day too! I was worried a brunch wedding would be too non conventional and maybe boring, but Tanya and Green Pastures made sure it was a stunning ceremony and reception. Our guests said it was the best wedding they have been to in a long time because it was romantic, intimate and classy. My big day went off without a hitch and the whole event had a wonderful flow thanks to the staff at Green Pastures. All day I felt like I was floating through a dream. The atmosphere at Green Pastures is truly dreamy. Not only did I feel it that day, but at other weddings I have attended there in the past. My favorite guests were the peacocks who really added to the magic. The house along with the peacocks lend themselves to some kind of Victorian psychedelic daydream. I suggest holding your ceremony in the Spring when the trees are full, everything is green and the peacocks fan their beautiful tails during their mating ritual.

Kudos to Green Pastures staff for giving me, my groom and our family and friends the most enjoyable experience on our big day. Our coordinator, Erica, perfectly arranged the special events and flawlessly kept things moving, all with the most pleasant demeanor and thoughtfulness. Our waiter, Brian, was graciously attentive to us and our guests with his unparalelled service. Thank you Erica and Brian for making our walk down the aisle truly special. Cheers, The Kirkpatricks

Tanya Wood and her staff did a PHENOMENAL job of pampering us and our guests the day of our wedding. Tanya is efficient, friendly, and very knowledgeable. We did not have to worry about anything the day of the wedding because Tanya handled EVERYTHING. The staff were extremely courteous and the food was excellent. Hot entrees were actually hot and the wine glasses were never empty. I would recommend Green Pastures to any bride or groom if they want a stress free wedding. Our wedding was PERFECT from start to finish and we will never forget our beautiful day! Thanks to everyone! -The Stojanovich's

Pros: Beautiful lawn with roaming peacocks.

Cons: None.

Everything is getting back to normal. It is extremely hard as parents to have such a wonderful gift to be put in your lap and asked to raise, nurture and make it happen. I am so happy for Jennifer and Ryan and I think I have a new calling. Do you have a position available for me? I can only pray you have this wonderful experience a head of you. With your help everything went extremely well. Jim and I were so excited about the ceremony and reception that we did not eat anything at the reception. We talked and greeted everyone and danced the night away in celebration of Jennifer and Ryan. Everyone keeps calling and saying what a wonderful wedding and excellent reception. That the food and cake were excellent and the staff was on top of making sure everyone was waited on before they had a chance to even think about being served food, cake or drink. From the first meeting we knew that Green Pastures was the welcoming location for our daughter and new son's reception. Tanya, you greeted us with open arms and never let us down. You and your staff at Green Pastures were excellent and left us free without a worry in our minds that everything was being taken care of. James ended the evening along with a family of staff that was astounding. Excellent, Superb and everything a family could ask for in a reception. Jim and I want to thank you so much for doing everything you did to make this weekend so special. The wedding was wonderful and the reception ended a wonderful evening to a fantastic union of woman and man. God Bless you all and Jim and I are making plans to come back to Green Pastures with a reservation for a dinner of two. We really want a special evening to remember a special occasion. Sincerely, Collette and Jim Devine

Great Pastures did a spectacular job on our wedding. We had both our ceremony and the reception there, and they executed everything perfectly --- the food, the atmosphere, the service --- just overall awesome. Their wedding coordinator Tanya was fantastic to work with from start to finish. She's extemely friendly, knowledgeable, and flexible. As a couple with very little wedding-planning time, I loved the fact that we could leave many of the details to Tanya, and not only could she be trusted to do everything right, the results exceeded our expectations. Also, Charles, the chef, did a phenomenal job on our food, and he was more than willing to accommodate our every preference. Our guests commented non-stop about how beautiful the place was and how great the food was. I highly recommend this place!

Pros: Service, value, food, atmosphere.

First, the food is absolutely superb. Second, the service is impeccable. The staff is friendly and polite; they go the extra mile to ensure the best possible experience for you. Third, it's beautiful, quiet, and private: perfect for romance. If you are looking for noise, action, and hustle-bustle; you are better off somewhere else. The pace of Green Pastures is wonderfully relaxing for patrons. We selected Green Pastures after visiting nearly 20 different wedding venues and meeting 40+ coordinators of other venues. What first attracted us was the friendly staff and management. What kept us going back for other occasions was the absolutely fabulous food. As for our wedding, it was an absolute delight to work with Tanya, the special events coordinator. After meeting MANY "coordinators" at different venues in Austin, I can honestly say that she is the best coordinator in the area. Tanya has the perfect mix of energy, poise, experience, and cheer. She was always put together, prompt, and on top of things. She worked very hard to bring our vision to fruition. And if you can imagine such a thing... she took care of so much that I, as the bride, actually felt RELAXED on my wedding day! For our reception banquet, the lunch buffet we selected consisted of sesame salmon and peppercorn flatiron steak amongst other dishes. Our guests loved it! On more than one occasion, several guests told me that it was the best food they ever had at a wedding. (We would have to agree.) Charles, the head chef, is awesome. It's evident that he loves making good food. Our cake was amazing, none of that dry chalky stuff. Instead, both the bride's and groom's cakes were perfectly moist; the consistency of which inspired more than a few moans of delight. By the way, half the fun is the cake sampling... mmm yummy... :-D If you are getting married in Austin, I would highly recommend considering this most worthy of landmarks.

Pros: Great food. Impeccable service. Beautiful location.

Cons: Peacocks can get noisy in the evenings.

Prices are high for what you get and the menu is very limited. The place has a musty scent, with NO atmosphere. I heard that the place has been bought and sold - perhaps this is the reason for some of the problems they have. Probably a good venue for a luncheon when the average age of the guest is 75.

Pros: grounds are taken care of, peacocks onsite

Cons: no valet, high prices, limited menu

Last night I attended a family wedding reception at Green Pastures and was simply amazed by the grounds, the staff, and the food. Id heard before that this was the place to go for a special evening, but it exceeded my expectations in every way. The entire experience was perfect. The restaurant is beautiful, inside and out, but also very comfortable. We were welcomed from the moment we arrived. The food was delicious; I enjoyed the grilled tofu with spinach along with an array of incredible appetizers. The service was exquisite, to the smallest detail. Our very attentive servers Herb, Ryan, and Vanessa made sure that every guest was pampered the entire night. They were efficient, friendly, and gracious the staff at Green Pastures is the best of the best. I was the matron of honor in the wedding party; thanks to everyone at Green Pastures, I was able to relax and enjoy the evening instead of worrying over every detail. The event was fantastic from start to finish. I highly recommend Green Pastures to any couple seeking an elegant yet welcoming site for their reception you will not be disappointed. The grounds are perfect for photographs, and the food and atmosphere are superb. Green Pastures exemplifies Southern hospitality at its very best!

Pros: service, food, atmosphere

Beautiful location and very convienent to downtown - perfectly manicured grounds. Over all, there were a few issues but they were acknowledged and taken care of by the GM.

Pros: The grounds are beautiful and manicured

Cons: Bad area of town, inexperienced staff, food for banquet was less than mediocre

A wonderful dining experience especially for a special occassion, but this place is EXPENSIVE! Do not be fooled by the one $ sign.
