Best Views in the City
by joy0302 at Citysearch
The Hyatt on town lake has great customer service and has the most beautiful views overlooking the city. The decor is very modern and stylish. The location is perfect, midway between the great shops on South Congress and the nightlife of downtown. I have been to Austin many times and this hotel is by far my favorite to stay at.
- Pros: Parking, Customer Service, Location
- Cons: None

It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at goo.gl/FPxYD They have some of the best hotel deals on the web!
Boats and Views

The staff is fabulously kind, but do expect to wait for the valet. Even though the interior of the hotel is a little dated, the interior of the room is nice.
The views of the lake are soothing, and you can go for a stroll or run along the lake with all the fit people in Austin.
This place is pet friendly and they charge a $50 fee.
My friend liked her breakfast and the portions were Texas-sized.
One can walk to the Capitol from here or catch a ride on a giant swan boat. The real swans btw were so majestic.
great place to stay

This Hyatt is perfect for anyone visiting Austin. It is easy to shop and have dinner without alot of hassle.
A spacious, inviting hotspot and a first-class hotel.

The Scene
Three sides of rooms surround an inner atrium made inviting with soft lighting and a waterfall. The buzz of meetings and conventions, people checking in and out, and laughter from the intimate tables in the lobby lend the space a leisurely, vacation atmosphere.
The Amenities
The Hyatt boasts 447 recently renovated rooms, 18 suites and 20 meeting spaces. The amenities include a concierge, a health club and immediate access to Town Lake trail, an outdoor pool and a business center for those important faxes. La Vista Restaurant is located on the second floor, and serves steaks, fajitas and salads. The Branchwater lobby lounge, however, is particularly attractive, with views of Town Lake and an outdoor patio right on the water. A great destination before or after watching the bats just a few steps down the trail from the front entrance.
Great Location, Nice Updates.
by labradoodle at Citysearch
The rooms have been updated and have more of a modern decor (as opposed to the previous Southwest theme) - which I liked. The rooms are pretty spacious and the location can't be beat. It's right next to the trail that takes you to Zilker Park, SoCo restaurants are within walking distance as are bars and such on 6th Street. My only complaint is that it took FOREVER for the water to heat up when you took a shower. We'd often have to start the shower and let it run for about 5 minutes or so before actually taking a shower.
- Pros: Updated interior, Excellent location
- Cons: If you want a hot shower, let the water run for a while before you get in
Lovely hotel dining overlooking Town Lake.

In Short
It's located at the Hyatt Regency on Town Lake, one of Austin's finest hotels. This second-floor atrium restaurant has a casual yet upscale vibe. It has a breakfast buffet in the morning and a full American and Mexican menu throughout the day and night. During good weather, many dine on the lakeside patio. It bills itself as the "Fajita Capital of Texas," so it's no surprise what ranks as the star menu item.
Fajitas aren't what they used to be.

Back to La Vista after many years. Fajitas we below avg. Chicken had no flavor. Beef was just OK. Meat was not cooked with bell peppers and onion. They were added on top. Pico was not fresh and guacamole was likely food service special. Tortillas were soft and mushy - needed a few secs on a grill. Stay home and buy the HEB ready to cook or pre-cooked. They are better.
- Pros: Atmosphere, View
- Cons: Food, Service
La Vista's New Menu Rocks!
by disneygal at Citysearch
Located across from downtown, the La Vista Restaurant showcases the city's best features and provides the perfect spot for gazing out on to Town Lake. The menu has recently been redone, offering amazing new dishes such as lobster ravioli and blackened catfish. They also have a low carb menu featuring a spicy asian chicken salad in a Thai Peanut dressing and hot smoked salmon quesadilla YUM!
As always, they serve "Austin's Best Fajitas" - a sizzling half pound of beef, chicken. To match, try one of their mega margaritas - frozen or on the rocks - but bring two straws or you'll be drinking for days.
If you have children, you can sit next to Camp Hyatt, a special play area just for them. Or for a more romantic evening, make reservations and snag a spot next to the window, right on the lake. You couldn't have a better atmosphere!
- Pros: Reasonably priced, Will validate parking, Not a long wait
BEST KEPT SECRET!
by zoey at Citysearch
I have gone to La Vista numerous times over the years with clients as well as family. The fajitas are consistantly good and the rest of the menu has done nothing but get better and better. I think their quesadillas are the best in town as well as the margaritas. Actually the bar downstairs, Branchwater, has a great patio on the lake and serves martinis that literally glow different colors. I think this is one of the best kept secrets
- Pros: view, outside patio, value
