I own two silky-haired Yorkshire Terriers which were shown and bred. They turned 12 in June. I refer to Spanky, my male, as my husband because he sleeps between my legs – Hee! I’ve not used another groomer since I moved to Austin in 1998 other than Shampooch. The owner is exceptionally adept and has been tremendously intrumental in helping me treat Brandy and Spanky’s allergic skin condition. If you have ever owned a dog with an allergic skin condition you can appreciate the relief we have experienced. I admit that on one occasion Spanky experienced razor burn but the owner was quick to call it to my attention and apologize. I was not charged for his next visit, although my Spanky is a regular client. He may have even been having an irregular day. Overall, I have been exceptionally pleased with this grooming service because my dogs have always gotten the special care and attention they deserve. One last note… if you call a hair salon which you seldom if ever patronize on a Friday and they work you in on the next day, a Saturday being the busiest day of the week, I think you can expect non-prefential treatment. Please consider your pet’s needs prior to scheduling an appointment with any groomer.

I took my eight pound Miniature Poodle/Bichon Frise to Shampooch. He has been there four times. The first two times he got a good cut (they did a good job around his manly areas and his feet were perfectly trimmed). The only thing I was unsatisfied with was that they didn’t have a very good whitening shampoo – and he is a very white dog. I am sure that the first two visits were done by a different person than the second two cuts. The next time I took him in he came home with razor burn (red and irritated skin) around his manly area; the woman had cut it so close he was bleeding. I was set not to take him back, but I had an emergency need for a trim (not a full cut). I spoke with the owner and explained the special circumstances. My dog was going to be filmed the next day and he just needed a trim, brush out, and bath. I dropped him off and 4 hours later the owner called me screaming because her employee had basically shaved my dog. All this after leaving explicit instructions with the employee at the drop off. He also had razor burn and uneven cut all over. I refused to pay and will never take my dog back there again. The employee is an imbecile and needs to be let go. And the owner should consider hiring new an employee who actually cares about dogs, knows how to groom, and has a nice personality (all three things the other employee lacked).

Pros: appointments available, convenient location

Cons: short hours, rude employee, poor service, high prices

After intensive research on a proper grooming service for my 10month old cocker spaniel, and talking to the owner of Shampooch personally, I felt comfortable dropping him off on a Saturday afternoon. I was extremely worried about dropping my baby off, but felt that they were professionals and everything would be okay. Turns out that everything that could go wrong went wrong. The owner was not there, and so it was another employee who handled my dog's cut. She was extremely impatient from the get-go, and violated every single request we asked for (we asked to cut his legs, nails, and to leave his whiskers and baby hair on top). The entire cut was un-even, he still has bushy hair all over, and there are razor stripes all over his back marking every swipe she took. We were extremely dissapointed at the experience, because for $60 bucks, this was completely not worth it. We had to come home and finish the job ourselves just so he could look presentable.

Pros: easy to get in, accessible location, friendly owner

Cons: inpatient staff, horrble cut, smelt funny

Hi all, Although I have only been to Shampooch 2x, I have been very impressed with how they groom my pomeranian (she looks glamorous). The woman in charge is very friendly as is her helper. Their rates are not outrageous (under $40). I have called last minute 2x to get my dog scheduled on a Sat., and they did it for me. I prefer this place over PetSmart, too. My dog isn't scared going here, unlike other shops, so I believe that these people are trustworthy. (p.s. don't let the outside appearance throw you!)

Pros: friendly, reasonable prices, excellent grooming

Cons: N/A, N/A, N/A

I have now taken my dog to Shampooch three times and I love it. He comes out everytime looking so beautiful! They do exactly what I ask. When I picked him up this last time his coat was so shiny and soft...couldn't be better. I will definitely go back!!!
