3 Star Rating: Average

I've only been to this restaurant one time which was today. The reason I gave this restaurant 3 stars is because it is average. The food is average but it is good especially if your hungry because the portions are big. I ordered General Tso chicken which wasn't on the lunch menu but they happily made it for me. The service is excellent. The staff was very friendly and very attentative. The parking wasn't all that great but the lot is big so actually finding a spot isn't a issue. The restaurant is a great place to try and the staff actually get 5 stars from me.

Pros: Big portions and big selection, happy to accomadate special order

Cons: parking

I love Chinese food! This is my favorite low-key, last minute dinner decision kind of place. The service is extremely friendly. The owner, Mama Wu, always makes her way around the restaurant to make sure your dining experience is perfect. The cooks are always willing to make adjustments however you like. I suggest sesame chicken with jalapenos, orange peel beef, crab rangoon(made with real crab, btw), and hot and sour soup. We always ask for all white meat chicken and they are happy to oblige. My boyfriend is a very picky eater and they even make a special plate just for him.

I don't get what all the hype was about. We ordered delivery and it was ok. It was your average, mediocre Chinese food. We're still on the lookout for some fantastic Chinese in Austin.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a good Chinese place close to where we live, found Bamboo Garden, and go there all the time now. The food is great, the people are super friendly, and everything is very affordable. Especially if you happen to go during lunch. It is a little hard to find, though. I think we passed it up the firt couple of times we looked for it.

I have been a costumer for 21 years and it still amazes me how good the food is. The won-ton in hot sauce is my favorite appetizer. The chow-mein is made in a very light sauce and their barbeque pork fried rice is the best I ever had.

We moved to Austin last year and have been looking for a good chinese restaurant to call "home". I think we have finally found it at Bamboo Garden. After reading the reviews here at Citysearch, we visited the restaurant a couple of weeks ago and have been back several times since then, ordering different appetizers and entrees each time to test the limits of the kitchen. The food has been consistently good - even better than expected, and the service is friendly and warm. If you haven't given Bamboo garden a try, you should!

Pros: Varied dishes, Family Atmosphere, Friendly staff

The Bamboo Garden has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. Even before they switched locations. Christine always remembers everyone of my family members and welcomes us in. If one of us is missing, she notices and asks where they are. Their food is to die for! And the service is wonderful. They even have neat little China ornaments, and bammboo for sale. It has a unique Chineese atmosphere, with a supreme wait staff. The food/tea is always piping hot. NOT ONCE have they screwed an order up. If you haven't been there yet, and you like Chineese food, it's a must. (Try the Almond OR Sweet & Sour Chicken) ~DUCE DUCE~

Pros: never too crowded, nice clean place, family atmosphere

Cons: definitly location, sometimes parking, ???????????????

Bamboo Garden is nestled away at the corner of south 1st and Hwy 290. (behind 7-11 is a good landmark) Family owned and in business 26 years, that should say something! Intimate, personable, great service and great prices for lunches and dinners. So much food-filling and tasty. No frills, but if you are hungry-go there!

Pros: price

Cons: location
