SOCO Style
by the_dude at Citysearch
You can't beat the relaxed feel of Guero's or the style of the SOCO crowd. Even though it gets pretty crowded, it is worth it. Really great food that seems different than most mexican/tex-mex places. I wish you could eat at the bar though. Speaking of which the beers are very cold as are the great ritas.... as they need to be if you plan on being out on the patio people watching on S. Congress. It's really close to the Continental Club if you want to make it dinner, drinks, and live music. Dessert is worth it if you saved room also.
- Pros: Location, Atmosphere, Dessert
- Cons: Non-Bar eating policy
Great Breakfast
by shellytx at Citysearch
Guero's can be a pain to get into in the evenings because it's so crowded, but I've recently discovered it's got a great breakfast menu. Perfect place for a Tex-Mex brunch on a Saturday. They also serve their breakfast menu all day long, if you are so inclined.
- Cons: Crowded
This place is gross.

I don't know why everyone likes this place. It's totally disgusting to me. And the food is bland. Definitely NOT the best Mexican restaurant in town.
Chicken Alambres
by hknapp at Citysearch
Strong and tasty margaritas, fantastic salsa bar, great S. Congress location, and nature's most perfect food: chicken alambres. Guero's is a required stop for any visiting ex-Austinite; I only wish teleportation really existed. The only negative is that the vegetarian fare is less than stellar...but if you're a carnivore you'll be too busy eating to care.
quite tasty

Famous people go here. And, you can too. The menu is great and the servers are friendly. A few times, the margaritas have been too sweet (too much mix?). Ask for a floater when this happens.
salsa!

The salsa selection alone is worth a trip to Guero's! The servers bring hot chips and three kinds of salsa to your table. You can even help yourself to more at the salsa bar. The tacos el pastor are wonderful.
Good black bean tamales
by nathanstull_citysearch at Citysearch
I find the drink and food prices a little high, but the happy hour black bean tamales are very good. The margaritas are well made, as is the food. The staff is very kind and helpful.
