best mexi marts

by jizzedinmypants at Citysearch

Amazing drinks and best enchiladas I've ever had, Only had bad service once, and it was a large table. I think he knew that he was getting his 18% gratuity and was being an ass just b/c he didn't have to work for his money.

...I can make a Mexican Martini at home

by Alton Von Stark at Citysearch

Honestly, I cannot think of a time that I went to Trudy's without a Mexican Martini on my mind. The food and the customer service were definitely not the things that brought me inside. I haven't been back in about two years, as I have a better Mexican Martini recipe at home, minus the poor service! If Trudy's were the only Tex-Mex joint in town, then maybe I could deal with the overpriced plates of cheese, the aloof attitudes of the under skilled waitstaff and the sheer ineptitude of the managers. However, I am fortunately not in that boat--I live in Texas! I need only drive a little further down the street--any street that a Trudy's is on--and find a better establishment.

Not Good for Groups

by chipjan at Citysearch

Trudy's is absolutely NOT good for groups. On a Monday at 5 p.m. they would not seat our group of 10 (7 parents and 3 kids) unless we split into two tables. Management said it would be hard to serve us. There were only 10-15 people eating at this time, and there were two open tables along a wall where no server would ever need to pass through. Oh well - we took our $250+ bill to Z'Tejas on 6th, and I will never bring people to Trudy's again.

  • Pros: n/a
  • Cons: They do not serve groups larger than 8

LEARN TO TIP OR STAY HOME

by angrywaiter at Citysearch

I WORK AT TRUDY'S SOUTH AT LITTLE TEXAS LANE AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH HORRIBLE CHEAP TIPPERS IN ALL MY LIFE.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION WAITERS IN TEXAS MAKE 2.13$ AN HOUR. WE RELY ON TIPS FOR EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING. AND WE ALSO HAVE TO GIVE AWAY 30% OF OUR TIPS TO OTHER WORKERS IN THE RESTAURANT. IF YOU CAN'T TIP 15% THEN JUST STAY HOME BECAUSE I DONT WANT TO SEE YOUR CHEAP, SELFISH, SCUMBAG FACE IN MY RESTAURANT.

  • Pros: cool people work there
  • Cons: the clientele are cheap ass scumbags

Enjoyed our lunch here

by rbtgreen58 at Citysearch

My regional manager for All-Tex Exteriors and I went here and had a great lunch and business meeting. The food and service were both great and timing was perfect for a lunch time business meeting.

Good Drinks. Okay Food

by llama1lea at Citysearch

For drinks, Trudy's is it, especially the mexican martini. For food, it is okay. Austin has way too many really good texmex resturants to be eating at Trudy's.

  • Pros: Top Shelf Tuesday
  • Cons: There are better TexMex places in Austin

Great breakfast and happy hour!

by RPies at Citysearch

I find myself at Trudy's at least twice a week. Sometimes I crawl in there in the morning for a quick plate of much-needed breakfast tacos. Sometimes I stroll up in the afternoon after work for happy hour. Either way, I rarely leave disappointed. The food is pretty standard Tex-Mex, the kitchen is cool about vegetarian/vegan options and both their red and green complimentary salsas are excellent. Drink prices are great and, if you can make it there before 5pm, you should have no trouble snagging a table on the patio. I've had one really bad service experience but I chalked that up to one particular server paying too much attention to a table of off-the-clock employees and not enough attention to our table. Trudy's is not changing the way we think about food, but it is keeping us full and filling up our glass whenever we ask.

Best Guacamole, I've EVER had in a resturant

by asahm22 at Citysearch

Trudy's is great. A fun casual place, w/cold beer, good margaritas, and HOT salsa. Parking is difficult when crowded, however seating was prompt.

Breakfast is great here too.

  • Pros: Guacamole, HOT salsa
  • Cons: parking
