I have frequented consignment shops in austin for a many years and felt compelled to write a review. This may have been the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I am a single mother and have to say kids are not welcome anywhere near the store. We love shopping at consignment shops because of the potential for great savings. Unfortunately that is just not the case at "Just Between Us". I had the feeling that the joke about overcharging the public is Just Between them. The feeling that my children had when entering the store was that of pure fear. My daughter wanted to try on a few dresses tand asked a woman for assistance. This woman decided to suggest to my daughter that her body type would not work well with the dress. It was funny that this women would say anything about looks because she looked scary and half drunk. She was about 65 with boyish short hair and nostrils that flared up after every word she spoke. My children are sensitive and my daughter will not stop talking about how hurt she was by this women. If you go to the store please avoid her at all costs!! After reading other reviews I wonder we went to the same store. I never post negative comments, but this women was out of line. Avoid at all costs

Cons: service

I just started consigning clothes here a couple of years ago after my children exceeded the size limit accepted at my previous consignment store and I have been pleased. I have found the owners to be personable and easy to work with. You do have to schedule a consignment appointment in advance, but you only have to schedule a date, not a specific time-you can come any time during business hours on the date you chose; that flexibility works well for me. They also allow me to bring large quantities of clothes to consign. They do reject clothes that they consider out of date or that are not in excellent or very good condition, but they are not picky to the point of being ridiculous like consignment stores I have used in the past. I have also purchased clothing there. I have bought several designer and/or high end tops and skirts at very good prices and in very good condition. I have been pretty excited about some my finds and have gotten compliments on most of the items I have purchased here - no one even knows they came from a consignment store. I have to admit I am not wild about their "accounting" system. When I go in to pick up my payment and they are thumbing through a spiral notebook and adding up my sales I do wonder if they are really getting all of them and I cannot believe that a business that has been around as long as they have doesn't at least have the information on a computer. I guess they could still omit sales, but a computer would look more professional and increase my confidence that I am really getting 100% of the money I should - I don't spend alot of time worrying about that though since my main reason for consigning is to get rid of clothes we have either outgrown or don't wear anymore and I support the charitable organization that they donate the unsold clothing to. Overall, I enjoy doing business with Just Between Us.

I love to shop at thrift stores for my family. When I can't use items, I take them to Just Between Us for sale. I have always found the two owners to be very helpful. There are times that they do not take an item that I bring, but they will always tell me..."It is out of date", "Women aren't wearing that style anymore". I have learned a lot from them and glad that I live close. I have also shopped there and have found bargains. It is true that the shop is small.

Pros: Very helpful to me

Cons: Store is small

I have been a consignor at JBU for many many years (since the early '80's). While I have always gotten a reasonable share of the sale price I have found at least one half of the ownership to be quite terse and not the most up front when it comes to telling you what items she will accept and which she will accept later (b/c it is out of season) or not accept at all. You get the feeling you are wasting her time (or taking her away from something else she would prefer to be doing). I have never purchased items but I can appreciate the fact that they don't take ANYTHING outdated, stained, pilled, or otherwise damaged. It is not easy for me to get in there to take things for consignment so making the appointment to take stuff is a hassle. I liked it better when you could just walk in with your items. Overall, I have had good experiences.

Pros: prices are set to sell

Cons: one owner seems less than happy to see you walk throught the door

I stopped into this store one afternoon with the intent to sell some clothing. I noticed it was close to closing time so I went in and asked if it would be better if I came back another time. I was met with a very rude "yes" and no further instruction. So, a few days later I took off work a little early and went back in only to realize that I needed an appointment to sell clothing. I was rather put out that I wasn't told this the first time but after hearing the long line of restrictions and the treatment I got from both of the co-owners of this establishment, I realized I didn't need this dump anyway.
