I think I need to stop checking the reviews on citysearch - as I'm afraid I'd never try anything since almost all the reviews are negative. Same thing here - I wasn't sure what we were getting into going to The Oasis on a weekend for a nice lunch. We were pleasantly surprised that we walked right in, got a nice table w/ a decent view and our server was nice. The food isn't gourmet by any means, but that's okay - it was good. I just wouldn't plan on going here for an "occasion" or a holiday as I'm sure it is totally packed. Overall, we had a nice time and even the kiddos behaved for a change.

Although I don't live anywhere close to Lake Travis, I still enjoy taking a trip out to The Oasis for the spectacular view--not a bad seat in the place! It is even more breath-taking with the renovations. The food is much more enjoyable since they have a new chef. My personal favorite are the piratas topped off with a mango margarita:) I also thought the staff was more than helpful and was quite efficient. I would recommend The Oasis to anyone!!

Pros: THE VIEWS!!!!

Cons: can get crowded-might have a wait...but always within reason!

Oftentimes a restaurant has either a great ambiance OR great food, but the Oasis gives you both. As if the fantastic, destination-worthy view were not enough, the margaritas are great, the food is good, and the prices are reasonable (ok, drink prices may be a tad high, but when you consider the view that you get with it, it is reasonable). The waitstaff is skilled at propping and rotating umbrellas to keep you in the shade without forfeiting your view of the lake and horizon. This place is a MUST for bringing out of towners!

Pros: plentiful parking, great views from anywhere

Cons: are there any?

Who says that the food here is bad? Fools! Who says the drinks here are weak? Fools! Who says the service here is unatentive and slow? Fools! I have reviewed the reviews and strongly disagree with any rating under 5 stars. Anyone that has had a bad experience at this establishment must simply be deeply unhappy with themselves. As a patron of the Oasis and Lake Travis herself, I am deeply moved to tell of the wounderous enjoyment the Oasis has to offer. The food is devine, the drinks are rejuvinating, and the veiw is breath taking! LIVE WELL, LAUGH OFTEN, LOVE MUCH!!!!!! These are words to live by my friend. The truth is engraved upon the doorstep. Let your soul flourish as you bask in sheer bliss with your hand on a cold drink and your fork in a masterpeice at the Oasis. Only a FOOL would say otherwise!

Pros: Impecable service, mouthwatering food, drinks even the gods envy, the best sunset you could ever see

Cons: only one salsa per chip basket

I have been going to The Oasis since before it burned down and even with the re-vamp on their menu and the redesign of the entire resturant it is still mediocre. The view is worth the trip, even if you go for drinks and appetisers. The food on the other hand, I have never found myself saying, "yum". It isn't gross, it is just missing a wow factor. The beef fajitas are tough and enchilladas are so-so. The new restaurant design is beautiful. This place is definitley worth going to see, but don't be surprised if your tummy isn't satisfied when you leave

Pros: A sunset view like no other, ambience, great drinks

Cons: Food is mediocre

This was my first time at the Oasis but certainly not the first time at a restaurant looking into Lake Travis. We really enjoyed our dinner and had a great time with the views. It was like something out of a Bond movie. The views were spectacular and the crowd was having a fun time. The ambiance is definitely great. The food was good too and for the price one pays (for the food and the views) I thought it was a bargain. I don't know what other people who have been complaining expected. Maybe they need to visit Carlos and Charlie's where the food is pretty similar but the view is nothing in comparison ... and all for the same price. But like many have already written ... go there for the Views first, Drinks second and the Food third ... you won't be disappointed.

Pros: View of Lake Travis, Ambience

Cons: For that price nothing comes to mind

I love the fact that the actual wait staff posted a comment that reflects, exactly, in great detail, a perfect image of a day in the life of the "Oasis wait staff" Totally hilarious!! I completely agree 100% I wish people in the world would put them selves in the other persons shoes before they judge or ask for something stupid... To the wait staff, I love you guys and can honestly say that I can not relate to any of the senarios. I have always had a great time there!!

Pros: I can't comment on the margaritas, I don't drink them..... Not sure that u can make a reservation....

This place has its days. I frequent the restauarant due to the fact that I live right down the road. IN my experience, the employees (from management to the guys that deliver the food) are great, the food has gotten better, and I don't recommend this place on the weekends. Other than that, it's fantastic.

I guess I should've known not to go to a place like this on a weekend. It was really busy, but worth the wait. Food was better than I remember and the drinks are always fabulous.

Editor's Review

There's a broad range of Tex-Mex and American classics, but the real draw is the view of Lake Travis.  See the full editorial review.
