Good fried food in a simple atmosphere

We go to the boathouse about once a month for burgers and steak fries. Simple fried food that are just good. Sure this isn't a 5 star restaurant but for what it is, it isgreat.

Burgers, catfish and chicke fried chicken ar every good.

My brother in law loves it for the "cougars", especially when they have a live band.

Expect kids and a rocky floor on the patio.

Great comfort food

This is a great place. We really like the grilled chicken sandwich and the catfish basket. The service is good, and they keep things lively.

THAT TRAiLER IS GROSS, so is the bathroom

we went to the boathouse last night for the first time. I was surprised when I walked up to see that they are cooking from a dirty greasy trailer that has about 6 people in it.

The food was okay....but is it appropriate to cook in a trailer with that may people?

My partner said the burger was great , but I lost my appetite for the catfish with ALL THAT GREASE!!

Not good for small kids

The food is average and the service friendly - very casual atmosphere. I'm not going back there with my kids until my 3 yr old is old enough to not run out into their back parking lot. There is an indoor eating area, where you order the food, and a covered/outdoor eating area that is graveled. It gives the impression that the kids can walk around and kind of play, but the back part of this area is fenced in and has a gate that is always left open. This gate opens to the back parking lot. I went there a few times with my kids and my son, at the time 2yrs old, kept trying to run out to the parking lot! He's pretty fast and I had to keep my eyes on him constantly. Couldn't keep him in his highchair because he fussed quite a bit, seeing the other kids walking around and socializing. Not exactly a relaxing experience for parents of small kids. Talked to the manager in charge and she didn't seem to care. She didn't think the kids should be up and about, despite the fact that the atmosphere of the place is family oriented (picnic tables and gravel) and the kids do run around and play. Good, casual place for families with babies and older kids, not for toddlers.

• Pros: Friendly service and fair pricing.
• Cons: Unsafe for small kids.

Great burger and catfish joint

Great neighborhood place for burgers, including "hippie" (veggie) burgers and also for catfish. Very friendly and accommodating service and a fun atmosphere. Sometimes there's even live music. Don't forget to get a classic Boat House Grill t-shirt!

Fast and Friendly

We went to the Boathouse for lunch this week for the first time and it was great. We got there about 11:30am and found a booth inside after ordering. Bacon cheeseburger was good and the counter staff were very friendly. The lunch crowd was in full force by 12pm and seating and service would have been a little slower. Excellent Overall.

Great Quick Stop for Comfort Food

If you're in the mood for a super casual, quick dining meal, you should give this place a try, especially if you live close by or are in the Lake Travis area. The fried mushrooms, chicken strips, and catfish sandwich are the best items on the menu (take it from the pro). Every now and then we've been disappointed with the service, but overall it's pretty consistent. Kids love this place.

i tried this place for the first time b/c i have heard descent reviews. unfortunately, i was very dissapointed b/c i was missing several side orders that i ordered and paid for. i will never eat at this place again.
