Bland

by RayFoodLover

I think the food is so bland! No flavor at all. Nothing was impressive there. Everything we tried was average and nothing stood out. Travel a couple more miles and there are plenty more flavorful options to choose from.

Go to Roccos instead!

by Msaatho

We had a stoned out waiter, he served us food that you'd expect from a TV dinner, the "patio" overlooks a dumpster and has tattered plastic blowing in the wind from the frame of the building, the floor of the main restaurant bounces like its made of plywood, and the food is gross. The whole place just feels like a bad attempt, almost a parody, when we spoke to the manager about our experience he blew us off and ran to talk to a waiter. We will not be back. We ate here based on the good reviews... I guess I should have looked at the dates, maybe back in 2006 it was good? Or in 2006 did people have horrible expectations? The lakes area has some amazing food, check out steiner ranch steak house, roccos, mizu, hudsons on the bend, but stay away from this hole.

  • Pros: if you like a bouncy plywood floor
  • Cons: everything

Mediocre overpriced food with horrible service

by lakewaydiner

In an area that prides itself on beautiful views, good wine, good food, and friendly people, this is a sore spot that seems to stay in business only because of unknowing large event groups... we have eaten there several times because we live in the area and like to support local businesses. The first time we ate there, the chicken marsala tasted like a boiled chicken breast with marsala sauce poured over it, our waiter was obviously high and never refilled our waters our offered a second glass of wine. We gave it a second chance, mediocre food again, decent service this time... but while we were eating the manager/owner decided to reprimand a waiter in front of the entire restaurant in a loud voice using profanity... the third time we went was last night, and will be the last, as we left the restaurant (after a meal that makes Carabbas taste like Giada DiLaurentiis prepared it) a rodent scurried out from under the dilapodated buidling into the trees....

Its no wonder the spin off pronto italiano closed its doors, they cant even get their main restaurant in decent shape.

Roccos is by far many times better, Ciolas kicks this places butt... do NOT eat here... its nasty to be quite honest.

  • Pros: none at all
  • Cons: poor service, bad atmosphere, unprofessional staff,

Outstanding Italian food and the best bread ever!!

by putaansuu06

The Hill Country Pasta House is simply marvelous. Two minutes after my wife and I were sat, the owner came out and introduced himself to us and wished us a pleasent evening.

I highly recommend the Cajun Chicken Pasta; it was a creamy delight loaded with green, yellow and red peppers and accented with cajun spice goodness. My wife had the Bolognese pasta andit was spectacular! The sauce was sweet, meaty and loaded with fresh flavors of Italy!

Go now!

  • Pros: Amazing Food, casual atmosphere
  • Cons: Don't have one

Italian comfort food meets the kick of Southwestern fare.

by Contributor

In Short
The vibe is funky and relaxed, with just enough formality to justify the white tablecloths. The walls are painted with crayon-colored scenes of Italy. Diners waiting for tables sit at the adjoining bar. Every meal starts with freshly baked bread from a wood-fired oven. Appetizers include scallops wrapped in bacon and grilled, and bruschetta. There's stuffed chicken with spinach, pine nuts, shallots and lime juice and jumbo shrimp stuffed with jalapenos.

Hill Country Secret!

by rllehman

I have been here many times and have always had a wonderful experience. I love italian, and this is exactly what I was looking for! Quaint dining, great service, wonderful food. Each meal begins with excellent (and a bit unique) bread and olive oil. All entrees are preceeded by a very tasty house salad, and the food is flavorful, hot, and in plentiful portions. Most recently had dessert - mocha mud pie - a must have!! Never left room for dessert before but decided to try this time with a big group, and this dessert should make the top 10 list! Great versatility because we've enjoyed both romantic dining for 2 and happy dining for 10, including 4 kids. Good wine selection too. Also great because they take reservations. A wonderful find!

  • Pros: consistently great, bread and olive oil, reservations

~Surprisingly Wonderful~

by sandrakimball

When my family and I recently moved to Lakeway from downtown Austin, we knew that we would soon be missing all of the great restaurants that downtown has to offer. Expecting to cook every night of the week unless we wanted "lake food," was somewhat depressing for a family that loves food and experiencing new flavors. Having been to Hudson's before, we decided to try the Pasta House next door. We were pleasantly surprised to find the food tantalizing, the service exquisite, and the ambiance oh-so-inviting. We brought the entire family on Mother's Day the following week only to be blown away by the unbelievable entrees! That's how you do it!

  • Pros: Great Food, Romantic, Inexpensive

I love the bread

by nathanstull_citysearch

I like going here for lunch. The chicken sandwich is delicious, as well as the Caesar salad. If you are in the area, this would make a good date spot because the atmosphere is nice. As you walk in, you see the ovens used for the bread and the smells hit you right away. The walls are painted with refreshing colors. Also, they have the butcher paper covered tables and give you crayons to draw with. It's locally owned, so that makes it better than any national chain in my book.
