Best Margaritas in Austin!
by lakewaylady
We are regulars of the Flores location in Lakeway off 620. We head there every Monday night for "Monday night Margaritas" and dinner, and usually catch a football game. We sit at the bar, and Ronnie the bear of a bartender usually takes care of us. He has known our names since the 2nd time we came in, and has our drinks waiting for us when we walk in, and always makes great conversation. Food is good, and salsa is spicy as hell. That's good- though, order it with a fresh side of guacamole and be thankful it's made fresh every day. We make up our own meals half the time, and they do it the way we want every single time. Drinks: We always get the La Flor (thier marg specialty) or the Paloma (a low car marg made with fresca- love it!) The restaurant is always busy, bustling, and services a golf-lake-family community. There are chips on the floor and there is no where to wait if they go on a wait. It's not uncommon to see an entire baseball team at a table, the bar full of drunks of the course, and the staff running slightly behind. Don't call them all friendly- half the service staff won't speak much due to broken English and the ones that do are usually too hungover to make conversation, but we call it a "Flores Night" every Monday. Recommendations: sit at the bar, order the la flor, a small regular queso w side of guac, and the beef chimichanga and share it. yummmmmm..... finish it if you can with a sopapilla. Our bar stools are the best seat in the house. We heart Flores.
Decent food, lousy service

Appetizer platter was excellent, when we finally got it.
Service was entirely too slow. And this was on a Tuesday night.
- Pros: Decent food
- Cons: Lousy, slow service
Great local Lakeway mexican food
by ditter05
Anyone complaining about the locals, loudness, busy on Fridays, spicy salsa, etc. need to go someplace else. I've experienced nothing but consistent good service, food and atmosphere. Yes, the salsa is spicy (maybe try dipping your chips in ketchup next time).. .or try the queso, if you can handle a few jalapenos.
The Mexican Martini's are out of this world.. .the BEST in town. The kitchen always accommodates for my favorite "everything vegetable enchilada w/ sour cream verde sauce" that's not on the menu. It's outstanding. Saturday afternoons are the best time to go and kick back in a booth and watch a football or baseball game.
Only one time have I experienced mediocre service.. .but tipped our waiter accordingly, since he normally worked a different shift and was overloaded on tables.
- Pros: location, service, family atmosphere, great food
- Cons: Yep, it's loud and there are a lot of locals & kids.. .Stay at home on a Friday if you want fast service & seating.
Food too spicy to eat
by 1midwestgirl
The salsa was too spicy to eat. The burrito also had way too much hot sauce. I like things spicy but I think they were trying to cover up the bland boiled hamburger meat in my burrito. Mexican food should have flavor not burn your esophagus so you can't enjoy your meal. This is not mexican food. Anyone can dump hot sauce on boiled hamburger but it takes skill to create something flavorful.
- Pros: Good location
- Cons: The food
worst time of my life

We own a lakehouse on Lake Travis and eat at the restuarant on 620. Needless to say it is a great place to dine. There is another one located in Oak Hill and decided to try it out. It was more like a bar than a restuarant. Lots of loud overly drunks people and the staff just kept serving beyond their limit. A woman sitting behind my husband kept starring at me. So I asked her why was she doing this. Her reply to me was you need to leave. I complained to the waiter and he said she was a regular and that what she said and was doing was okay. Trying not to let his comment disturb me and this strange obviously drunk woman kept up with her harrassing me for no apparent reason. My husband asked for a second drink and was denied being accused of already having to much because he was slurring due to his false teeth. My husband explained to him and popped his teeth out as proof. The waiter brought Bob another drink and of course we denied it after the insulting accusations. The manager jumped up from the bar and she had been drinking martinies one after another and stumbled over to our table and then claimed he had red eyes and he was drunk. But the thing is another drink was brought to him after all these accusations. It just did not make any sense. She just kept on and on and we told her we would be leaving as soon as the waiter brought back our change. The manager persistantly kept repeating as loud as she could saying I'm going to call the police. We explained we are leaving and don't want the trouble she was making for us.
That spanish manager is not very professinal. .
Crispy Taco Plate!
by johnkelcy
Yea, it's basic, but you KNOW it's good food if they can make your mouth water thinking about a taco...
Rita's are excellent, salsa is excellent and the spice varies day to day depending on how is in the kitchen and how hot the jalepeno's are...add a queso completo and you are set for less than 10 bucks. Nice.
- Pros: inexpensive, excellent food, good parking
