Java noodle is so delish. i have never been inside the actual place, as i always order delivery, but it has the best curry in austin, hands down. everytime i wake up hung over from a night of drinking, my little tradition is to order like 50 bucks worth of java noodle and be in heaven for the rest of the day. i recommend anything with the shrimp, as they are huge and plump! and the indonesian fried rice is interesting and yummy. so next time you get drunk, put JN on speed dial!

Pros: ultra delish

Cons: takes about 45 min for deliv.

I am from Singapore and think I know what is "real" Indonesian food. Alas, this place ain't it. Food is cheap and tasty, but more Chinese than Indonesian. In the daytime, the place is hopelessly ill-lit and dingy, and very depressing. Not a place you want to linger in. Certainly not for meeting up with friends or for dates!

Pros: Cheap, tasty

Cons: Lack of atmosphere, dingy, dark

Java Noodle is the best Asian I have had in Austin. Its a dulled down version of many Asian-esque dishes but they do a great job trying to convey the exotic flavors in a palatable way. Nothing is too spicy or too flavorful, but the food is fresh and really you cant find much better. Good gate-way food if youre used to only chinese cuisine.

Pros: good Americanized Asian Style food

Cons: not totally authentic

Getting good tofu in East Austin is usually a task, but Java Noodle has some of the best tofu dishes around. I highly recommend the Kari Tofu. Yumm!

Pros: tofu dishes, easy take-out and delivery

I think not so many people know this restaurant, because is an Indonesian cuisine where not so many familiar with and maybe affraid to try. To tell the turth I like it so much, Even I can go there every day. They got the best rating, thier cleanest, and the server is friendly too. Java Noodles is the best place to have a party, where they have a private room for party. I would recomanded the Beef Rendang (spicy w/ cocoanut milk), The Sambal Udang( green beans w/shrimp and red curry sauce is so tasty), The Indonesian fried rice w chicken and shrimp, and also the variety of vegetarian dishes such as Java Special(all kinds of vegatables, Tofu and curry sauce), The steamed Veg Dumplings w/ java sauce is so good, and grilled tofu w/ peanuts sauce so yummy. I like their environment so cozzy and quite, it is a good place for people who want to enjoy good food and friendly atmosphere. They also have so many differnet kind of dishes that would not make u regret to try. I say this is my favorite place and I hope every one can go and try the only Authentic Indonesian food in Austin.

Cons: in lunch time might want to come early, parking space full. Dinner no problem

Java Noodles is definitely a favorite amongst my coworkers, and I strongly recommend it to anyone that can come here for lunch! The restaurant has a nice cozy feel with a great lunch menu. The lunch menu includes very vegetarian friendly items as well as something for the carivores, all in different kinds of curry sauces. The lunch items includes free appetizers such as eggrolls, coconut/wonton soup, chicken wings, and some fried banana eggrolls... you just can't beat that! The food is good and at a great value too whether you are coming for lunch or dinner (but lunch is definitely the better bargain).

Pros: Indonesian/Thai food for a great price. Nice staff too and fast service!

Cons: parking can be difficult during peak times

Java Noodles does not serve authetic Indonesian food.. if you want authetic Indonesia style food go to Houston! For people who have never had Indonesian food, I guess it can be quite an amazing experience. The food is not too bad... is more chinese mix with vietnamese than Indonesian. The service is not fantastic.. can be quite slow. I just wish that the chef of the restaurant is Indonesian, then I would go to Java Noodles all the time 24/7.

Pros: Ambiance

Cons: Service, Food

It has a good selection of tofu items for you vegetarians, and the soup is wonderful. The beef was a bit fatty but well-flavored and the duck was superior.

Pros: soup, curry, uncrowded

Cons: service not fantastic

Java Noodles has amazing food at great prices. I love indonesian food, I was worried at first since I'm used to my family's style of cooking it. The food was impressive! The tofu spring rolls are delicious, as are all the satay's. It has a great variety of mild and spicy dishes that are tasty to eat, and easy on the wallet.

We moved and I hadn't been back for over a year. They still have good service and good food that is a step above the Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese food typical of Asian resturants. Now serving beer and wine (previously they didn't have a permit). It would be a great little romantic resturant if they would just dim the lights and put candles on the tables. Small, but not hard to find, in the same plaza as the Wanfu and 888 Vietnamese resturants.

Pros: Vegetarian menu, Clean

On the Menu

After dinner, make a point to order the homemade cheesecake. It may not be very Indonesian, but it is delicious.
