Paddle away to experience a rarefied view of Austin's watery cityscape. Relish the passing cypress and pecan trees as the Capitol City hustles and bustles in the background. Bring family and friends for lunch at the plentiful, well marked picnic areas that run along both banks of Town Lake. Heading north will get you out of the commotion, sending you under the Barton Springs bridge and on your way to the open water of an urban oasis.

Can't beat it

For $7 an hour, this is a great way to spend a sunny afternoon. Be sure to bring water and sunscreen and a sealed bag to prtect them in case you flip over. I like to go out into Town Lake and then over towards MoPac. This is also a fun activity for visitors.
