i do not know d*** about diamonds or jewelry...but after a brief and very informative conversation with TD, i feel i am better equipped to make informative decisions about buying, selling, or having stones appraised. TD was extremely honest and friendly, and was empathetic to my situation (i am not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination). Although he has sadly relocated to San Antonio, he gave me a great referral to a local Austin jeweler whom he compared to a mechanic (as opposed to a salesman). I would recommend speaking with TD before doing ANYTHING regarding jewels. His advice was completely honest and unsolicited. I have not done any prior business with TD but he treated me like a friend or lifelong customer. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Pros: extremely knowlegable and honest

Cons: not in austin anymore :(

TD was very informative and a pleasure to speak with. His witty analogies and knowledge both impressed me and informed me on how to get rid of my girlfriend's old wedding band and engagement ring. The news wasn't great (for her), and I appreciated his candor. I will be calling him when I'm ready to propose and trust that I will be in good hands.

TD was so incredibly patient and willing to help even though I had a million questions. He took the time to explain everything in detail and tell me about all my options. I would definitely recommend talking to him before making any decisions. It's great to finally get some real honest advice for once. I feel much more confident now about my decision and definitely more knowledgeable. He definitely knows what he is talking about and will give it to you straight forward.

If EVER you want any 'real' information this guy is absolutely fabulous. He doesn't even know me, this was just on the phone and a SUNDAY at that. I'm telling ya he truly is 'all that'. He gave me soo much information and he really wanted to educate me so I'd feel good bout whatever decision I make. I'm new to the Texas area and if this is the way you do bizzz I can understand why all of us Californians are moving here. I can't wait to do bizz with him and anyone else who truly appreciates honestly this is you man.

Pros: makes you feel as if you are family but waaay to knowledgeable

Like Morgan Freeman in The Shawshank Redemption, T.D. is a man who knows how to get things. My fiancee has, shall we say, selective tastes. We went through store after store without finding the right ring. Mr. Wernick found us the right ring in the first batch of pictures he sent out... just the right ring at quite a nice price. T.D. has recently relocated to San Antonio, this is a great loss to Austin.

I called TD wanting to sell a diamond ring. After nearly 40 minutes on the phone, I hung up and felt like I had to re-hash what just happened. I stared at the phone with a blank look on my face and just thought to myself "WOW"...This guy is for real. He spent so much time talking about the process and the "Dancing with Wolves and Swimming with Sharks" that I felt like he was truly on my side. He told me what to look out for when I do decide to sell and he gave me some homework (that I have hated all my life - thank you very much) and like most homework, I'll find an excuse to get out of it. Anyway, I think when I do decide to sell (he also told me about the times of the year that are good to sell and the times that are bad) I will go directly to him. I cannot say enough about his humor (dry - but that's what I like) and the length of time he spent on the phone with me. It's not an easy decision to make (to sell a ring that means so much to my wife) but he has made the pain a little easier with his genuine concern and overwhelming knowledge of the business. You have to call TD if you are buying or selling because he will educate you on the entire process. You just don't find too many people like him that have the advantage or ability to take advantage of you but choose not to. I'm done but I don't feel like I have done this man the justice he deserves. Sean

Cons: His store is not closer to my house!

Before you buy any type of jewelry, you have to give TD a call. He will take the emotion out of the process to make sure you are getting what you think you are before you write the check. He will give you his time and experience to help guide you in making a good purchase. Great personality and knows his profession. Don't make a buying mistake, call TD before you buy.

i called td today looking for some info on selling a diamond ring i have. he took the time to speak with me about things i should look for in a buyer, he was hillarious and totally approchable. he even gave me homework. i recomend calling him first before you sell or buy any expensive jewels. he knows his stuff and he is not afraid to share his wisdom. loved him.

When I walked in TD's door I knew just enough about diamond rings to be dangerous to myself. TD took the time to properly educate me on the meaningful elements and oft-missed pitfalls of making such a significant purchase. By the time I made my final selection I felt absolutely confident that I understood the diamond and the ring inside & out. TD advocated for me, above and beyond the call of duty, and I have never felt so confident in making such a major investment. You would do well to spend time with TD, understand the exacting standards he applies when evaluating jewelry, and employ his expertise when making your purchase or creating an original piece. TD is truly a supreme advocate and I am much better off, and my fiancée is absolutely thrilled, as a result of working with him to make the most important jewelry purchase of my life! Thanks for everything, TD.

Mr. Wernick was the only person in the Austin/San Antonio (Texas) area who was able to help me to find exactly what I needed. He recognized my needs (quality, style and budget) and he found the most beautiful piece that I could ever imagine for a very reasonable price. I am amazed that there are still jewelers like him. You must contact him before you spend a lot of money somewhere else, because I know he will have the perfect piece for you for a much reasonable price.
