Gina is absolutely amazing! I went in with a shameful head of black roots and burnt orange , outgrown highlights, and thanks to Gina, came out with beautiul chocolate and caramel streaks. She took enough time to consult with me on my style choices, and explained the best approaches to maintaining the health of my hair, unlike other stylists I've had who insisted on treatments that left me with overprocessed, damaged tresses just so they could charge me more. I got a fabulous color and cut...Plus, she really is warm and inviting, and there was absolutely no product pushing. Be warned, it can get a little pricey, but Gina is worth every penny!

I have been a platinum blonde for a very long time and decided that it was about time to go back to my natural light brown hair. I was highly recommended to Brandi at sage by several friends. With the encouragement of my boyfriend, I took the plunge and made an appt. with Brandi. Brandi is a magician! she turned my ugly dark roots and platinum blonde hair to a beautiful light brown hair. She also updated my haircut and I came out of sage looking and feeling absolutely beautiful. My boyfriend loves it too! Everyone at sage is very friendly and this small salon is very cute. They also offered me a glass of white wine as soon as I walked in. I will certainly come back!

I was referred to Gina Cave by a dear friend. She was a dream come true for my not so trendy hair. I have received tons of compliments and given her name to many. I thought the salon was beautiful and the shampoo tech was amazing. My only vice was the front desk service, when taking my apt. Ashley was very informed and professional. However when I arrived the front seemed a little preoccupied. I wanted to thank Ashley for great directions an d the parking info. I did find out quickly that she was not working and well that was about all i got from the front. I did not bring this up to my stylist. Really I just wanted to share my thoughts. Gina is a gifted and kind hair stylist.

Pros: great stylist

Cons: not so great front desk

I wouldn't be writing this if it wasn't for citysearch. Carissa was the first of many great and helpful reviews I came across. So I decided to give her a shot, and she nailed it in the bullseye! She couldn't have done my hair any better than what she gave me. It truly was the best experience I have had with cut and color. I left there feeling guilty that all I was going to be doing was laundry, and not showing of my new look. Seriously, thank you citysearch. It could have been many battles before I actually won.

So, I was really looking a little ragged. My hair was the problem. I am not saying that I couldn't use other help too, but let's stick to what is do-able in a day. So, I went to 'Sage'....the one over on 42nd and Medical. I had never been there before, and really did not know what to expect. The interior was a bit drab, but I was not in any mood to back out ....Looks can be deceiving (except when it is how 'I' look!). So, I stayed. What a smart decision. First, I asked my stylist what she thought. Hmmm. Blonde? Red? Brunette? All of those? She ( her name is Fae) suggested that a cut would also help. Well, okay. And what color? Red AND blonde. Yay! A brave stylist. My hair was a bit needy, but so was my aura. This is where a good stylist is SOO invaluable. A client needs stroking and encouragement. Fae was up to the task. I got a fab cut, a super conditioning package, AND a stellar coloring job. I felt great. I looked even better, and my husband....well, ...I think that the 'mussed' look works well, too. Don't you? Thanx Fae!

Pros: can't get a better 'do', or color in Austin

Cons: salon is in need of better ambience....something prettier

I had the best experience at 42nd street Sage Salon this last week. I was scheduled for a cut and hadn't colored my hair 6 years. Needless to say, I was hesitant to color it, but the girls there talked me into making my natural hair color "richer". Not only did I receive the best cut I have ever had but, they succeded in making my hair the most rich chocolate brown. Thank you girls for understanding exactly what I never knew I needed.

I have to say I was less than impressed with the service at Sage Salon. I went in for full highlights done by Faye and I specifically asked for blonde. Midway through, she decided to go for a "more natural" look, and I agreed, because she said it would still be blonde, but just a darker version. My hair ended up being dark brown, almost black. I was horrified. She said it would get lighter with a few washes, and it did, but ORANGE!! To their credit, when I called back for a color correction, they did book it, but said it would have to be done by Faye, and I would have to wait for over a week to get in. Needless to say, I did not and will not return.

Pros: Lots of Parking

I was so lucky to get the most fab haircut and color by Erin at Sage Salon. I just moved into town and I really lucked out. Erin gave me style. Thanks so much to Erin.

I went to Sage Salon after googling hair salons in Austin. They came highly recommended for their color and cuts. After reading many reviews, I decided to try Carissa. She was exquisite, a hair doctor you could say. She listened to my needs and communicated what the outcome would be. Before even starting I felt like a new woman, so you could probably guess how I felt afterward. Thanks Carissa for putting a bright smile on my face, and glow on my hair. Listen when I say, "Go to Carissa!"

I recently visited the downtown location and had a wonderful experience. I received top notch treatment from Gina, who colored and styled my hair. I would recommend her and the salon to anyone who loves spending a little “me” time getting pampered. Oh, and the best part of it all are the compliments I keep getting. The people, products, and service are well worth another visit. Thank you sage and especially, THANK YOU GINA.
