I've been going to Innu for about 4 years. I'm surprised one of the reviewers said that the stylists are not all skilled. That's false. Innu has stylists skilled at various levels and Innu focuses on continual training and education for their stylists. Thus you may find that the stylist you love at $40 a cut may end up charging $50 b/c he or she is improving. This is not a bad thing. When my first stylist moved into a higher price range she recommended another one at my price point that would understand me and my hair. Both stylists I've had were very good at knowing what my hair can and cannot do. Listen to them and communicate with them. I have had to go in for one recut in 4 years. It wasn't major but I needed a recut b/c I cannot style my hair as well as my stylist and one section was giving me trouble. I received a quick 5 minute fix and some more tips on how to style my hair. Again, communicate with your stylist and listen to him or her. If you are not pleased, let it be known. Innu will make it right and you should always be happy. Give it a try for sure!
Pros: Well trained stylists. Commitment to customer service. Always on time!
Cons: Have to make appointments in advance for some of the popular stylists - worth it though!

I have really great experiences at Innu Salon. My stylist is always on time and consistently does a good job. When she's not available, she recommends other stylists which do a good job as well. It seems everybody is trained well and they stay in sync with what's going on in the world of hair. On top of that, they are super sweet and let's say, humble. It's laid-back and not "stuffy". Also, I just love the design inside and out. If your looking for a new place I would say give Innu a try : )
Pros: did I mention consistent?
Cons: my stylist is too booked!!

I was blown away by my experience at INNU today. I have been to several salons in Austin, and I have never experienced such customer service. I must have been offered a drink by five different people! The aromatherapy scalp massage was awesome. I would have been happy with just that! Then, Tamara worked her magic on my hair. She was VERY knowledgeable and did a great job. During the haircut, we talked about her doing my hair for my wedding. I am so excited that she will be a part of my special day! Everyone was fabulous....highly recommended!
Pros: People who really care about your hair happiness!

I went in as a first timer and did not like the haircut I was given. I called the following day and made a second appointment to get it fixed. The owner cut it again and did not charge me. He was amazing and gave me lots of personal attention (including scheduling me for 7am so I could get in before work). I do not intend to go back but I appreciate their committment to making customers happy.
Pros: OK Value
Cons: Not all stylists are skilled

I was blown away by service with Solana. First she wanted to give me a trim and it was in fact a trim that does what it is supposed to do -- make hair look healthier and update style, not drastically cut my hair so much that I feel I am seeing another person when I look in the mirror. This is a sensitive point that has caused me to go from stylist to stylist over the years until they take the words "just a trim" seriously. I have long hair and I like it. I always wanted to keep it long but stylists have been chopping it saying they'll only take off "an inch." I'd like to see their ruler. Not only did I get the cut I asked for and was listened to, I was given advice about how to cover the gray at home without having to come in every 5 weeks. This was unheard of. I have never been given specific DIY instructions. Solana even wrote down what to ask for at a beauty supply shop. The salon called a week later to see if I was still happy. I was. I am. I made an appointment to get color freshened up before I go back to coloring it myself. I have been looking for a convenient, unpretentious "home" for my hair in Austin for more than a decade. I have let my hair just grow and grow instead of submitting to the chain-saw scissor hair-cutters who seem to think they know what I want better than I do. One more thing. The stylist "got" the style I wanted and conversed with me whether bangs would look good on my face before cutting them. Rarely do I get this much back and forth. And the stylish did not suggest a new look as has happened at pricey, artsy salons, where you leave looking like art has been created on your head, not a style you could maintain daily much less live in.
Pros: Got appointment within a day. Great cut. Stylist listened. Gave DIY specs on at home coloring, convenient, parking, not rushed or loud place. Great scalp massage.
Cons: None, not even pressure to buy products.

I had been looking for a hair place for almost a year after relocating to Austin from Denton. A co-worker referred me to Innu, and more specifically to Eden, and I have been thrilled with the results! I have gotten so many compliments on my hair, and I LOVE going to the salon. It's so unpretentious, but yet very classy at the same time. I have referred my friends and family there, and they are all happy with the magic that happens at this place. It rocks!
Pros: bumble and bumble
Cons: n/a

If you are looking for a new hair salon in Austin that's easy to get to, not too crowded or "stuffy", but full of expertise and amenities...this is the place. The aromatherapy scalp massage ROCKED!! The staff were friendly and professional. The people who work there are a mixture that you almost immediately can relate to someone there. It is not intimidatingly "Chic" and yet you feel like you are in the MOST Chic Salon.
Pros: aromatherapy, not too pricey
Cons: not a "cozy" environ

I have been going to this salon for over a year and my hair has never looked better. Solana is attentive to what I want, the products are great and they have wonderful customer service.
Pros: Bumble and Bumble

I went to this salon because it was recommended. I unfortunately made a bad choice. I brought in a photo of how I wanted my hair to look. She didn't even get close. She put in permanent color when I asked for temporary (and most of that ended up on my forehead). The blonde highlights look gray. And my hair is hopelessly uneven. I looks like I cut it myself. This is the worst haircut I've ever had. I hope Supercuts can fix it because that's all I can afford after paying $120 for this disaster.

I've honestly probably had my hair cut at most of the salons in town at one time or another. With some places I've been to, you may get a great haircut one time and a bad one the next. The stylists here are really good, not just sometimes but all the time. My stylist, Ron, is so meticulous that you'd think he dreams about cutting hair at night. He's got the kind of attention to detail you'd want from your accountant or brain surgeon. This is a good thing. For any of you out there who've had a hard time nailing down a good haircut, give Ron a try.
Pros: relaxed, unpretentious
Cons: closed sun. and mon.
