Good work, rude owner
by jennah76 at Citysearch
I had an antique couch that needed repair. They had done a good job - and the repair was seamless - but when I mentioned there was piece missing from one of the ornate legs of the couch, the owner (?) became very defensive and rude. It was apparent that the piece had come off before, because there was old glue in its place, but it was not missing when they picked up the couch. I asked if they could look around for it. One of the workers glanced around the shop and checked the in truck bed and said he didn't see it. The other one (again, I think the owner) completely ignored me. In fact, when I went to pay, he didn't even acknowledge my presence - he blurted out the amount due, continued with his personal call (plans for the weekend), took my card and charged it and handed me the receipt without saying a word - no "thank you" or "we'll look around for the piece." It was totally rude...I can't believe how some people stay in business with attitudes like that. I was not ever rude, upset or accusatory when I mentioned the missing piece - I approached it more as a problem that needed to be solved. Perhaps if I was more forceful, or a male, they would have taken me more seriously. I wouldn't recommend this business not because they don't do good work - they do - but because they are totally rude. There are plenty of other furniture restoration shops in Austin that do a good job and treat people with respect.
- Pros: good work
- Cons: the workers

Just picked up our two chairs from being reupholstered by Donnie at Restoration Shop. They look great and were done within 2 weeks! I highly recommend this shop.
