great customer service
by 2iggys
This was my second visit to Knife Sharpest and I will definitely go back the next time I need anything sharpened. I brought in kitchen knives and garden shears and they were able to do it while I waited.
- Pros: great service, good work
- Cons: none really
Speed and Quality
by Wheelieman
When I called, they explained their process completely and I felt confident that my beloved knives were in good hands. The shop was easy to find, (but I have GPS) and they were very friendly inside. They inspected my knives and said I could wait, or go for a walk and they would call when my blades were ready. We looked around their impressive shop for a few minutes, and decided to check out the Deli next door. Before we made it across their parking lot, the technician caught us and said he was finished! The blades were in superb condition. He gave some advice on how to maintain them, and we were on our way. Less than 30 minutes in and out. The price is great too.
- Pros: Great service and fine quality
- Cons: I can't think of any
Satisfied Customer
by kshappycustomer
I looked this company up on the City Search and read some mixed reviews. I decided to give them a try anyway, and I was really satisfied with the service. I think dissatisfied people have a lot of energy to get rid of and they are more likely to spend time on something like this. If all of the ratings were perfect, I most likely wouldn't have taken the time to write a review, but I felt I should take the time because the Knife Sharpest deserves some kudos too!
- Pros: They sharpened my knives (2) while I waited and they taught me how to keep them sharp
- Cons: The location is a little hard to find
Great service and knowledge staff
by Neutrino45
I had no issues with their service. I was promptly assisted and staff was very knowledgeable. I needed my machete sharpened and it was done in minutes. I will definitley be a returning customer and will definitely refer friends to them.
- Pros: Fast turn around time
Great shop, great knives, great people
by jay999
I've live in Austin for 4 years now, and as a knife enthusiast have been going to the Knife Sharpest for 4 years as well. I am utterly appalled at the reviews they have received thus far, which is why I felt the need to comment. I have received nothing but excellent service at the Knife Sharpest. I've gotten to know the owner and people who work there well and, of course, if you walk in acting like you own the place at a knife shop, you are not going to get presidental treatment. These are regular guys who love their knives and know just about everything when it comes to knives! Treat them with respect and they will do the same for you. I HIGHLY recommend the Knife Sharpest to anyone who is looking to buy knives, or get them sharpened.
High quality sharpening service

My name is HowlingWolf and I would like to apologize to my employer Thomas Stuckey, owner of Knife Sharpest and the profit Grambo Stuckey the founder of the company. As a representative of this company I should conduct myself in a courteous and professional manner at all times. I recall the morning joecoolest2 and his wife came into the shop, at the time I was unaware of his screen name which explains how he perceives himself. Anyhow, I woke up that morning with a toothache which caused a severe headache, I was working alone at the time sharpening another customer?s knife when I finished the knife I asked joecoolest2 what he needed, I admit I did not smile nor greet him in my usual helpful demeanor due to my irritability brought on by my dental health issue. His attitude of entitlement may have also played a role in my mood. We at Knife Sharpest provide an elite service but we are not servants. Our loyal customers, who would not take their knives anywhere else to be sharpened, respect and appreciate us and the job we do. joecoolest2 did make a good point regarding our sign, which has been there more than ten years. It could be time to specify on the sign, which I would have explained to joecoolest2 had he not left so quickly, we will sharpen one knife while you wait so you have a sharp blade and the remainder of his knives would get sharpened in the order they came through the door. In the future I will try to be more patient with irritating people who treat others in a disrespectful manner because they believe they are superior for one reason or another. My actions on this day were mine and mine alone and should not reflect on Thomas Stuckey or Knife Sharpest where you do get the highest quality sharpening. Business has increased thanks to the Austin Statesman article and as we know hunting season and the holidays are here, which is a busy time for us. Again I apologize to Thomas and Grambo.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS,
HowlingWolf
False Advertising is lame
by joecoolest2
Went in Saturday morning at 10:00 AM with 7 knifes to be sharpened. No customers were in the store. Just a lone guy in the back who ignored us for a few minutes before he finally came out into the front area to ask "what do you want?". I said I had some knifes I wanted sharpened... Some Henckel kitchen knives of various sizes and my favorite pocket knife. He started writing out a ticket and without asking simply wrote wrote "4:00" on the bottom. I stopped him and said I didn't want to pick them up at 4PM... I would wait for them to be sharpened. The reply I received was "It's not gonna happen". I picked up my knifes and walked back out the front door returning the place to it's previously empty state. Stopping briefly with my wife to admire the large sign (takes up entire left window) that says "KNIVES SHARPENED WHILE YOU WAIT". We debated the possible interpretations of "While you wait" in the terms of the customer service (term obviously used loosely) we had just experienced. Our conclusion was that "while you wait" really means "while you wait for them to do it whenever they get around to doing it". Bottom line... I'd rather have dull knives.
- Pros: You get it done when they want to do it.
- Cons: You get it done when they want to do it.
Very helpful folks
by exjumper
Used this business for the first time. It was recommended by an associate. People in the store were very helpful, they gave me info about maintaining a sharp edge on my knives. Had them sharpen several knives, they accomplished the job quickly, and professionally. Paid with a check and had NO problems whatsoever. I would RECOMMEND them.
- Pros: Quick, efficent and professional
- Cons: Difficult to locate. (Small establishment-easy to drive by).
KNIFE SHARPENER...Terrible customer service
by tcarwell
They have this big advertisement painted on the window that says "KNIVES SHARPENED WHILE YOU WAIT". What they fail to include, even in small letters is "only if we are not busy". I left my knives with them around 9am and the attendant said he would call me around 2pm which is when my knives will be ready. When I didn't get a call, I phoned them after 3pm at which time they said, Oh yeah, they are ready. When I get there to get my knives, I offer a credit card because on the door they have the cards they accept. You guessed it, they couldn't accept the credit card. Must be nice to be the only game in town. I now know what business to try and start up because any other one would easily take this business.
