You can tell these people have been in buisness a long time for a reason because they provide good honest service and do not push you like many other stores. Majority of the sales staff has been with the company for 10+ years. We were recommended to stop by Benold's by a friend. Thought we would check them out and found them to be great. Checked their pricing online and it is comparable - plus they allowed us to ship our ring avoiding sales tax. Sales staff is not pushy like you will see at Bailey Banks and Biddle up in the Domain. I recommend having a look. It is nice to deal with people who want to help and not just make a sale. PS-> My wife to be is very happy with the ring and store.
Pros: Service, Price, Quality
Cons: None to think of it

Speaking of classic and unique, I would describe the owner of Benolds the same. Milton Doolittle has brought to Benolds a new look to the store, including an exceptional designer selection. The people at Benolds have over all knowledge with specific expertise in design, gemstones, diamonds and crystal. I recently was looking for an unusual gift for a friend. With the help of Milton and his team I walked out with a one of a kind William Henry Pikatti pocket knife. The white topaz thumb button was dazzling. Whether I am getting a battery for my Excel wrist watch or looking for a gift, Benolds is the first place I go.

I have been shopping at Benold's for my wife and daughter for at least 10 years now, in fact, going back to the days when they were located on Burnet Road. To date, I have yet to be disappointed. The knowledgeable and helpful staff were always able to guide me to the perfect choice suitable to the occasion. And while I have done some comparison shopping, I have always found their prices to be quite reasonable and competitive. And the subsequent oohs and ahs from my wife and daughter had me realize that I had made the perfect selection. I cannot recall the number of friends to whom I have suggested Benold's, but I can recall many of them telling me about the gifts they purchased for their wives and/or girlfriends and what a great shopping experience it was for them. Like me, all were men and not necessarily well versed in shopping for jewelry. But similar to my experiences, store staff were able to guide them to that perfect gift at a reasonable price. Based on my experiences, I would not think of going elsewhere for my future jewelry purchases.
Pros: Knowledgeable staff that can explain the various pieces in laymen's terms. Good selection. Reasonable prices.
Cons: None, in my experience.

The rocks aren't just in the cases in this Austin store, they're in the heads of the management and employees working there. Whether it's a lack of call backs, misunderstanding instructions, missing deadlines, or just plain screwing up the more important moments in your life, this is the place to be. This company has been hyped as one of the better stores in Austin, but unfortunately that is certainly not the case. I would not wish this type of service or experience on those I dislike. We could have saved time by having someone take me out back of the store, grab my money, kick me in the junk, and tell me my purchase will not be in on time. It's unfortunate because the selection they have is quite nice.

I was on the receiving end of an engagement ring purchased from Benold's Jewelers. My now fiance is pretty lacking in the romance department, but with the help of Benold's Jewelers' concierge service, he was able to pull off an immaculate proposal. Benold's hand delivered the ring to a local restaurant in town and it was wonderfully presented with the dessert. Benold's made it extremely easy for my fiance to surprise me.
Pros: concierge, service, variety

I had been looking for a wedding ring for my girlfriend and did my fair share of shopping around in Austin and Benolds was the best jewler i found by far. I was completely clueless when it came to diamonds and they were extremely informative making it as painless as possible. At other jewlers, they would show me 2 or 3 diamonds in my requirements, and Benolds showed me at least a dozen varying in color and clarity, and the quality was outstanding. I went during one of their special diamond events and was given prices well below other jewlers. I also had to order the setting special and the turnaround was extremely quick, less than 3 days. Overall i had a great experience, and would highly recommend them to my friends and just about anyone. They have a very nice clean store, and made me feel very welcome. I will most deffinatley go back to Benolds for any future jewelry purchases.
Pros: knowledgeable staff, good selection, good prices, lovely atmosphere

The folks at Benold's Jewelers must have read the reviews online because the service was so amazing both times I went into the store. I went in to get my battery changed and every person in the store greeted us as if they were greeting a good neighbor. They were not trying to sell to me, they just wanted me to know that they were happy to see me. The 2nd time I went in, I brought in an antique ring. I just wanted to ask a bunch of questions. They patiently answered all of my questions and didnt try to up sell to me. Ill definitely be back.
Pros: Customer Service

We've heard excellent things about Benold's, so you can imagine we were a little shocked when, after about five minutes of perusing their smallish showroom, nobody came to offer us any help. We counted five employees, or who seemed to be somewhat employed, loafing around and talking amongst themselves while four or five customers browsed on their own. Aloof is not a word one should use to describe the sales team. My girlfriend's dress probably cost more than their entire wardrobes, while the change in my slacks rivaled the cost of their antiquated wood venneered showcase. Very unprofessional. One saleswoman walked right by us without so much as making eye-contact. We made a slow lap around their square display case before we realized that nobody cared for our business and that their inventory was limited to gaudy and very gaudy. What made our day was when I phoned the store from the parking lot. I asked if they were busy, and some lady said, and I quote," Yes, sir, very busy." I told her that we had just left for the aformentioned reasons and she apologized for not seeing us in a sea of customers. Yea, a sea of five meandering patrons. What a joke. Oh, and the place smells of stagnant flatulence. I'd rather buy jewlery from a street vendor.
Pros: Great parking and nice, uh surounding stores
Cons: Service, salesteam, atmosphere

I puchased my husband's wedding ring here and we both love it! The options at Benold's are both classy and unique, a nice balance of both. However, I have not been impressed with their service ever since. I had my wedding band and ring attached to each other, and when I called the day it was supposed to be due, they couldn't even find it in their system! When they finally did, they told me it would be ready 4 days after the promise date. As if I hadn't learned my lesson from the above situation, I brought in earrings that I was having remounted. Their price was ridiculously high, and when I went to pick them up on the promise date, the woman told me they wouldn't be ready until that evening (and on their claim checks, they don't specify any time, they just say that whatever you drop off will be ready by a specific date, which to me means ANYTIME on that date). In addition, the sales people are overly pompous...they look the people who walk through their doors up and down and are rather snooty. Despite Benold's convenience for me, I will not be back. I figure that there are good jewelers out there that do what they do well and have it ready by the time it's supposed to be. To me, that's just good business sense.
Pros: Convenient Location, classy and unique jewelery
Cons: service takes longer than promised, snooty salespeople, high prices
