You were completely honest with us and we were totally satisfied with the negotiations! If we lived in Austin all of our friends would come to know about Charles Maund Toyota and what a great dealership it is. We would highly recommend Charles Maund Toyota to anyone! Customer Unservice

by indravijay at Citysearch

I will preface this documentation with the following; I have bought a VW Passat from Charles Maund in 2006. I bought my Toyota 4Runner in September, 2004 in Tucson, AZ and I moved to Austin in November 2004, and have been using Charles Maund for every one of my services for both cars since these listed times. Apart of my purchase for the 4Runner, was a package to have lifetime replacement for tires if I were to maintain my scheduled maintenance with the dealership that I bought the car from. Since I was moving in a very short period, I had it clarified that if I enter into this program, then it will be transferable. Further, when I came to Austin, I asked the consultant, Wes Newman whether or not this was transferable, and he stated that it was. So, for the last 4 1/2 years, without a doubt, I have been up keeping my car maintenance as I felt I should do to uphold my end of the deal for this tire replacement program. On 4/9/09, I go to the dealership to get my next service checkup along with my state inspection sticker taken care of, the inspection would not pass for some lights out and tires that are too low in tread. I stated that I have tire replacement, and it should be covered. After looking up in the system and not finding me there, I was told that I am not apart of this program. At this time I asked Wes to let me speak with a manager. I spoke with Danny Smith and he started off wanting to extend some customer service. He was already apprised of the situation and Wes had told him that he had told me, that the protection program would be transferable. In this same conversation, Danny went on to tell, and I quote, "this program is a piece of ^&*%. You have no idea how many $%^&* off customers I have had with this thing. They have done everything they can to not pay this out." Not surprisingly, Wes expressed the same sentiment. After a few minutes of acting concerned, I got no action and was told that this has to be answered by Toyota, and nobody else. He stated that he can't do anything and at this time, I basically stated that is not good enough. I pushed back on this and was told that it did not matter what I say or what I do, I will not get tires from Charles Maund because, "they are not in the business of tires, if they were, they would have a firestone or something". He cannot take something that was stated 4 years ago by his representative as something that can be held as something that is binding. At this time, I asked Danny to get the GM and I reminded him of the amount of business I have conducted with the service department. At this time, he started to posture as if I have no real action here, and I cannot get tires out of Charles Maund. Finally, he told me that there is nothing that can be done, and basically, we need to part. I asked for my car, and he stated he can get it. At this time, I asked when will the GM call me back, and he stated that he does not know, might be Friday, but I have no idea. He did write off my service charge. Remember, at Charles Maund, they will do whatever it takes as false promises to get your business, but when it comes time to deliver on them, they will find a way to back out of them.

  • Pros: Nothing
  • Cons: False promises made

They are still the worst

by JimJones45 at Citysearch

I just read the review posted in 2006 about the jerking around on the Prius. I received the same treatment. Unbelievable since they had quite a few unsold Prius on the lot. They would not allow a test drive. So nonsense about MSRP (which paying didn't scare me) I would agree - I'd rate no stars. A real waste of time and best, and given the quick read of reviews of poor folks who taken their cars there for service...OMG.

A very happilly satisfied customer.

by Johnright360 at Citysearch

I would like to thank Charles Maund Toyota and Staff for all there help in purchasing my new 2009 Toyota Camry. While this may seem like just a normal sale to you of a vehicle, Charles Maund Toyota made me feel as if it was the most important sale of the day. I wasnt able to get to your dealership until about a half an hour before you closed, but you and your staff stayed late while still making me feel like this was a pleasure for you, not a chore. We let you know what we wanted and what we expected and you not only met our expectations but exceded them in all areas. I greatly appreciate everything everyone at Charles Maund Toyota did for me and would recomend them to any one looking for a new or used vehicle.

A very happilly satisfied customer.

DO NOT EVER BUY ANY CAR FROM MAUND WITHOUT READING THIS FIRST!!!!

by jaybird255 at Citysearch

The dealership consists only of sociopaths. They lie to get you into the store, and once you are there, they lie again. A year ago I wanted a fully loaded silver Toyota Avalon and they said they had it on the lot when I called. We drove all the way down and they did not have this car. They said there was not one within Texas, but they would order one for us for $100 extra. I went home, and checked the internet, and there was one, perfectly loaded in silver, in SAN ANTONIO.

Before Toyota, Maund was a Cadillac dealer. Doug was narcissistic, and lied as well. The service department would never properly repair my 1983 Cadillac Biarittz (check it out--it costs $27,500 back then), and they could care less, as I had bought the car in San Antonio after Maund refused to order me one in the burgundy color I wanted without my promising to buy it from him, even though I had never even seen it!

Maund won the dealership in the 1950's in a poker game, and the family has absolutely no sense of loyalty to or responsibility for their customers. It pains me to see a car with a Maund sticker, because I know the owners of that car are in for a hellacious experience.

  • Pros: GOOD CAR SELECTION
  • Cons: THE DEALERSHIP IS HORRIBLE--THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS HORRIBLE

Think Twice about going here!

by ToyotaLover at Citysearch

Charles Maund Toyota could benefit from reading these reviews. The only people there that are friendly are the people taking your money (go figure). Most of the Parts department help are always grumpy.

They are my last stop when buying parts.

Overpriced. Service Awful. Go to Classic Toyota of Round Rock

by TundraManiac at Citysearch

Bought my 2007 Tundra from Charles Maund and the sales department was satisfactory. I only purchased at Charles Maund because they were open on July 4th and classic toyota of Round Rock was not. At the 5,000 mile service I took it to Classic of Round Rock for the service. I was greeted at the bay by a friendly service advisor and she offered her personal car so me and my wife could get across I35 and eat beakfast so we gladly took her up on the offer and away we went. Within 30 minutes we received a call that the car was ready and after breakfast we made our way back. We were escorted to the service desk were our service advisor walked us through the paper work and off we went. We recently passed the 10,000 mile mark and again needed service and this time had a coupon for a 29.99 oil change from charles maund. So I called charles maund and made a appointment and decided to confirm that I would get the 29.99 oil change deal. I was informed by (Steve) in service that it was not valid on a Tundra because it takes 7 quarts and the coupon is for only 5. I asked if I could just pay for the extra quarts and he said no. I asked what the price was and he said it would be $131.99 for the basic oil change (and yes it was $131.99 not a typo) and $29.99 for tire rotation. I asked if they could work with me since I had a coupon and after talking to the manager he said yes he could take off $4. I said no thanks and went to Classic Round Rock and had a oil change and tire rotation done all for $48.00. I told our service advisor at Classic about the ordeal and price I was quoted for a basic oil change and he even said it was outrageous for a oil change. I would never buy or take my car to Charles Maund for service. I would highly recommend Classic Toyota of Round Rock.

Stay far away...

by ajuliekins at Citysearch

Charles Maund will do and say anything to get you to buy a car off their lot, but that is where the service ends. They do not return phone calls, respect your questions, or offer any kind of customer service after you leave- they obviously don't want repeat business! I recently had some follow up questions on a car I got from them and no one would return my repeated phone calls. After almost two weeks, I had to go to the dealership in person to speak to someone. Once there, I waited 30 minutes to speak to someone. I was given the run around by this man and pawned off to another "customer service representative". He offered to make a phone call concerning my question, but he never returned. He sent another individual to let me know they could not help me- they never even got my name. Keep far away from this dealership and their unprofessional service. I love Toyotas, but I will never purchase one at Charles Maund.

  • Pros: They sell Toyotas
  • Cons: Staff, customer service, lack of competence, unprofessional demanor

Charles Maund Toyota service is ridiculously bad and their unresponsiveness is unbelieveable.

by hdhhe at Citysearch

I brought my Sequoia in for an alignment because it was riding rough. The service advisor (Travis) told me that I'd bent the rim of the steel wheel (!) and that it would need to be replaced. He said he'd order the wheel and it would be in the following week . In the meantime, they moved the damaged wheel to the back to lessen the shaking when I drove. Whatever they did made it even worse and, after hearing nothing back for two weeks, I called to follow up and couldn't get in touch with Travis. I talked to the parts department, which had no record of him ordering the wheel. I ended up taking the car to Discount Tire to swap out the spare for the damaged one and order a new wheel (which would have been $100 cheaper than what Travis quoted). While at Discount Tire, they inspected all the wheels and discovered no damage at all. The weights had just been installed incorrectly, causing it to ride rough. Discount Tire fixed it for free and even called me the next day to make sure it was driving okay. In a way, I'm glad that Charles Maund's customer service is so bad, since it saved me upwards of $300. The thing I can't get over is that they flat out lied about a problem that didn't exist. Incidentally, I have never heard back from Travis and my e-mail to the service department regarding this matter has remained unanswered.

  • Pros: It's close to my house (pity)
  • Cons: inept service department

Disrespectful: Charles Maund is NOT a place to repair your toyota.

by abster55 at Citysearch

I took my car to Charles Maund for 10 years and I was a loyal customer. I spent thousands of dollars, no joke. My check engine light came on today, so I went in to get the car repaired (spent a couple hundred). Yet when the porter returned my car, I receive it with a broken door handle (in fact it was gone). I asked to talk to service manager and he refused to replace it because "they get old and break."This is exactly what he said. He didn't care that they broke it and refused to fix the damage. 10 years of my money and loyalty and this is what I get in return?

I do not recommend Charles Maund Toyota for repairs. It would be best to seek other Toyota repair shops.

I will never take any of my toyotas to this place ever.

  • Pros: they lost their touch
  • Cons: Customer service, If they break it, you pay for it. And they broke it.
