Worst experience I have ever had
by nevercomplains
April 21, 2007
I never complain. I've never sent food back. I tip 20 percent, sometimes more. But after my terrible experience here, they got nothing extra. I say, Din NO! As in, NO bbq pork, NO roast duck, NO chicken baked in rock salt. I can handle a restaurant being out of a popular dish so I ordered something else -- chicken with broccoli. I waited for about 30 minutes. After seeing people who were seated after me getting their food, I got up and talked to the waiter, who had not returned to my table. There was a mix up, he was sorry, the food would be out soon, he said. When it arrived, there was chicken, but no broccoli. There were, however, mushrooms, which I'm allergic to. I could have said something like, "This isn't what I ordered," but by that time, I just wanted to eat and pushed the mushrooms aside and hoped for the best. When the meal was over, I wanted to leave, but couldn't. They had started to close out their register -- more than two hours before closing time -- and the credit card machine would be tied up for five to 10 minutes (more like 30 minutes, including the good 10 after the machine stopped running). I should have known what I was in for earlier in the night: before the waiter took my order, a woman with a to-go order came to the table. "Can I have some sauce?" "Uh, sure," I said. "I asked up there, and they said to just find a table. That's customer service for you," she said. Later, a server came by and tried to take the sauce away before I'd even gotten my food. The food -- whatever they brought me -- was fine, but it wasn't worth what I endured here. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I don't think I can give this place a second chance. If you're willing to trade the so-called "best Chinese food in Austin" for the worst customer service, go for it.
- Pros: parking
- Cons: customer service

We had reservation and we still had to wait 30mins. Then by the time we got our food our bill came with it. Then on top of that we had 2 adults 2 child and a 5 month old and were charged gratuity. When I asked he said your baby counted. Never knew they charge per person and you have to pay for the food as well. Our overall experience as bad. It as dirty and over crowded. Half the time they don't understand what your asking for. So we only had the table for 30 mind and basically they kicked us out.....don't eat there I will never eat there!
Love it

I used to like this restaurant, but the customer service has gradually gotten worse over the years, and that's a make-or-break it deal for me. When dining in, the waiter pretty much ignores you until the food is ready to be served or it's time to collect the money.
But taking out has been fine...until recently. My wife ordered snow pea leaves, combination fried rice, and sesame chicken. Because the foam boxes here are not very durable (they melt if you put something hot on it, which has happened in the past to us), we usually request a sheet of aluminum foil underneath the hot food inside the box and we have had no pushback on it. We simply do not like eating foam. Well, the manager of the store, who was the cashier, told my wife that there's nothing wrong with putting hot food on the foam and that my wife doesnt know anything and doesn't go to health class. My wife was obviously upset and left without buying the food. So much for customer service.
I recommend going to great asian restaurants with better service like Sea Dragon or T&S. I know they do a better job of keeping the customer happy.
- Pros: Authentic food
- Cons: Terrible service

Take from someone who knows: this is the real deal. The menu has authentic Chinese food and authentic bad Chinese restaurant service. Most people expect good service at restaurants, but trust me, most good chinese restaurants have bad service. The food is most important and they know it. From the duck to the chinese bbq pork, it's definitely worth visiting. asianaustin dot com.

I went to this restaurant for the first time this past Mon with a group of 4. We were seated and served very quickly. I am not an expert on real Chinese food, but I know quality, fresh food when I see it and this is it! My husband had the pork fried rice, which was fresh made with delicious bbq pork. It was not greasy at all. The same goes for the pork lo mien, which was my favorite. The pepper steak was tender and flavorful with plenty of fresh bell peppers and onions. The chicken and broccoli with crispy pan noodles came in a very mellow sauce, but still pretty good overall. The price was very reasonable. We'll definitely be back!
- Pros: Delicious food, very reasonably priced
- Cons: Location

why do ppl make a big deal about service at an asian establishment? asian restaurants are not known for having excellent service. big deal. is it that much trouble to raise your hand to get a refill? if you dont like the service, then dont tip. STFU
- Pros: food
- Cons: too many people
Worst Service in Town!

I've been there several times and their dishes are just OK(too salty and too sweet, so American-Chinese). We went there on a Sunday evening just because we live very close and thought it would be a quick dinner. But it was so crowded we had to wait for about 10 minutes for a table. Another 10 minutes after we sat down, no waiter or waitress showed up, I had to wave the menu to a couple of waiters passing by and obviously they saw it. Still, no one came to even just offer some water or drink. Some kids on the next table were jumping up and down, two guys are two other tables use their cameras with flashes. It was so annoying we had to leave the restaurant. I briefly talked to the girl at the front and said I thank her for leading us to the table, she seems to have no problem with customer leaving and didn't even say sorry. Sure your restaurant is popular and crowded today, but we are still customers!
This is the worst experience I had in any restaurant in my whole life. I am Chinese and I love our food, but I would never go there to dine in again! Their BBQ to go is OK though.
- Pros: BBQ to go
- Cons: Service

I was in the Navy and traveled the Far East and lived there for four years, so I know great food!!!! In my world this is the best place for great bbq and anything else that your taste buds could want. Where else in Austin can you get your chicken with the head still on, or watch your pork being sliced from the pig while you wait. Love stone fish now you know where to get it
- Pros: The BEST in Town
- Cons: not for people who love buffets!!!!!
