Bad Experience
by workinguy2
First time diner. Went there for lunch and ordered the $ 5.95 create your own combo to include guacamole salad, beef taco and chalupa. 10 minutes after order placed, waiter comes to table to inform us the restaurant is out of avacados - so no guacamole (with an HEB food store in the same strip mall that seemed like a lame excuse. They could have bought avacados!) Opted for queso as a replacement dish. Have never seen Mexican beef tacos look like mini-taco bowls, but there they were. Food was flavorful until I began eating the chalupa and bit down on the biggest rock I had ever seen which must have been in the beans. Jagged and as large as a large pea. Called the manager over and he offered to comp the meal, but I insisted on paying but stated would never return.
- Pros: Flavorful
Great food

Martini was really good and strong.
The queso was the best i've had and the shrimp fajitas were really good too.
- Pros: Excellent Mexican Martini
Great Tex-Mex And Friendly Service
by texasannie
We love the great food and friendly service at La Morada. Our food is always prepared exactly like we want it and is served in generous proportions. Our son introduced us to La Morada in 1994 and now we are taking our grandchildren there!
Our favorites are the Beef Enchiladas, Beef Fajita Nachos, and, of course, the Guacamole! My husband loves the Verde Salsa they serve with the chips! Our grandchildren love the Queso, Cheese Enchiladas, Chicken Tenders, and Chicken Fried Steak!
The Wait Staff is extremely friendly; Chuck, the Owner/Manager, is extremely friendly and helpful with menu ideas; and you will enjoy the food. We don't drink, but I have heard that the drinks are great!
- Pros: Absolutely the best Guacamole Ever!!!

I came here for the first time a month ago and have been back twice since, this place is for sure one of the, if not the best place to go to for Tex Mex. The margaritas were great and very reasonably priced. The waitstaff was overly friendly and very welcoming. It's a great place to go to watch your favorite sports on a nice flat screen tv, without having the annoyance of a bar full of drunk people hootin and hollerin. If you live in Austin, I would recommend coming here to eat, or if you are from out of town coming to the Austin Area, this is a must!
- Pros: Everything!
- Cons: NOTHING!
Go anywhere but here!

La Morada is trying to be something for everyone, huge flat screen tv's, a "bar", and small seating area. There is a lack of flow and comfort to the space. The only nice thing I saw was the mural. Having enjoyed some great deals elsewhere when it comes to Mexican fare, this place scored well below my expectations. I mean come on... over 5 bucks for two tiny enchiladas (just cheese!) and the traditional sides cost you extra (rice & beans & pico...). OK, they had the chips and salsa for the table, but the salsas were so hot that they were too spicy to eat. Chile rennenos, just under 10 bucks. My husband had soup, he said they used the wrong kind of meat, or maybe a cheaper one. He was not very impressed either. The waitress seemed afraid to do her job, did I make you nervous? We are not going back, there are other true Mexican resturants with much more plate for your buck than here.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Loud TVs, overpriced, not family friendly
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
by shabbychicinaustin
Do NOT go to this restaurant!!! My family and I went here a couple of weeks ago and had a great experience so we decided to go back. Bad move on our part. It was crowded which I understand, it was Father's Day. However, when our waiter finally came over he was rude and arrogant. For the rest of the time we were there he had an attitude. When my sister asked for a cup of ice for my mom, he brought it back about 5 min. later and practically threw it on the table at her and just left without saying a word. We sat through his horrible service and then when he brought the checks they had added gratuity on. My stepdad asked to speak to the manager who was standing just around the corner. When the waiter went over we heard him tell her "The service was great" so she already came over assuming that whatever we were going to say was not true. When we told her we wanted the gratuity removed, she asked why. We explained to her that the waiter had been rude the whole time and inattentive. Her response was "Well, he was inattentive because we were busy." Well, that may have been true when we got there but the restaurant had been practically empty for at least the second half of the time we were there. I told her just because you are busy is no excuse to be rude. Well, I guess she didn't like that & she took the checks and walked away. As soon as she did that, the waiter came up behind her and said none of that was true, that we were lying because he gave us incredible service. I turned around and told him "You don't need to lie." Obviously he knew he was in the wrong or else he wouldn't have immediately told her that the service was great when we asked to speak with her. Anyway, I went next door to get some cash to pay b/c I didn't trust them with my credit card & while I was gone I found out the manager came over and told my family she didn't appreciate me yelling at her employee. Are you kidding me? I've never been anywhere that has reprimanded the customer for complaining!
- Cons: rude & arrogant staff
Tex-Mex to Die For
by FlavorSaver
La Morada; perhaps the closest I'll ever get to culinary Heaven! First-rate Chef(s), with a unique facility for recognizing and achieving 'perfection'. I've had Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner there numerous times and can't wait to dine there again. Owner leads by example with up-close-and-personal touch, and wait-staff the friendliest in Austin. Everything on the menu is superb! All 'plates' are attractively presented and piled with very fresh and tasty ingredients; a virtual 'feast' for your eyes.......and (of course) your tummy! I HIGHLY recommend this ultra-good, ultra-friendly, ultra-clean and well-kept Tex-Mex Restaurant. Viva! La Morada!
- Pros: Great food; friendly wait-staff; clean restaurant; reasonable prices
- Cons: none

You always feel welcomed when you are there. We have been visiting La Morada for many years. The food is tasty and the frozen margaritas are wonderful! We also like getting the appetizers to start off. The owner and his staff are really nice people. Many, many returns... ! :o)

I've been going to La Morada for many years. The food is always good. The tortilla soup they had was good but very different. Today I got a nice surprise they have a new tortilla soup, it is wonderful.
They also have pretty good queso.
