Best Barbeque in Austin
by daisyrave at Citysearch
Rudy's is my favorite barbeque in Austin. Before I moved to Austin and tried Rudy's, I honestly thought I hated barbeque. I have had bad barbeque at so many places that Rudy's was a very pleasant surprise.
Here are the must tries: The EXTRA moist brisket (amazing!!!) and the sausage is really good as well. I also like the smoked turkey if I'm trying to eat healthy. Their sweet iced tea (hey, it is Texas) is perfect just as is too.
The only bar-b-q that is better is Elgin barbeque. But I still would take Rudy's brisket!
- Pros: Extra moist brisket, Fun Staff, A once a week must!
- Cons: Crowded at lunchtime, Only because its good, !
"Worst" BBQ in Texas
by GordonElliott at Citysearch
Pretty much says it all. This place is about as much "country store" as it is a legit BBQ place. If you want the WORST chopped sandwich anywhere, including 7-11, eat theirs. The best thing I can say about Rudy's is that their gasoline is overpriced.
- Pros: I Know It's Bad BBQ, They Sell Beer
- Cons: Fake Atmosphere, Overpriced
Very Good

I liked most everything about this place. It isn't the best BBQ I've had, but it's pretty damn good. I just wish their sauce wasn't as sweet as it is.
- Pros: moist brisket, turkey, outdoor eating area
- Cons: sweet sauce, no beef ribs
good & bad

Their breakfast taco station and cigarette/gas counter has saved me from hideous hangovers many a time! But their meat is expensive, and try getting through the lunch line in under an hour! They do have a great staff, and I love the location, but I would rather fly down to (Logan's) TEXAS RIB KINGS on Burnet/183 for quality tender meat at a great price and no mile-long lines. Texas Rib Kings is far overlooked for BBQ in Austin!
- Pros: Drinks on Ice, Convenience, Breakfast tacos
- Cons: Expensive, Long Lines, +$ cheese Bk Tacos
BEST FOOD EVER
by stubacca at Citysearch
I am a big eater from New Orleans and we stumbled upon this place on a trip to Austin. Everything I ate was fantastic and the best BBQ I have had (besides this small place north of Mobile). I had everything on the menu except the half turkey and I will be going back soon to try that. Two finger-licking thumbs up!!!!!
- Pros: Great Food, Fast Service, Plenty of seating
- Cons: There isn't one in, New Orleans
Rudy's sucks!
by cindyrella_21 at Citysearch
Rudy's is really the worst BBQ ever. I know they advertise that as a good thing I guess, but they really are disgusting. They use too much pepper, it's brisket has been dry at times and everything else is nothing impresive. I would not go back ever.
Worst BBQ in Texas!

Come on...be serious. We all know Rudy's is the best. Their BBQ sauce alone is worth it's weight in gold (fortunately you get can get it for a bargain price straight from Rudy's).
- Pros: Great BBQ Sauce, Great Atmosphere, Bottled Drinks on Ice
- Cons: Tad bit pricey
What a rip off! Why go here?
by shralper at Citysearch
Rudy's would be a good place to go, but with one exception-- the prices. The food is OK, but $10/lb for brisket? And $13 for rack of ribs? Add 2 sides orders to it (everything is ala carte) and you'll be spending as much as you would at Tony Roma's, but you're eating at a gas station!! I just don't get it. At least at Tony Roma's you get better side orders and fresh-baked bread. At Rudy's, they throw you some cheap white bread. I'll never understand people who spend money at this place. If you want good, cheap BBQ, go to Bill Miller's.
With out a doubt -- The BEST

I was simply amazed at the flavor, tenderness, and value of all their food. I will always go to Rudy's for the best tasting barbeque in Texas--hook, line and sinker--reel me in!
- Pros: Flavor, Tenderness, Value
