Great sauce, creamed corn and more
by shaft28 at Citysearch
Ok, for a place connected to gas stations - heck anywhere - this is just really good food.
You walk in past the convenience store and into a long line where you pick up drinks and any cold side dished (I highly recoemmend the banana pudding).
When you go to the counter make sure to tell them it is your first time in. Trust me.
They offer the standard Texas meats and cut them to order and put them in their fanct plates and platter (wax paper and a milk crate). The juicy brisket and lean brisket are great, turkey can be dry but when it isn't it is fantastic. They also offer one of the better sausages in town (for some reason most places oversmoke their links, gross). Not a fan of the prime rib meat, skip that one. The creamed corn is so good you want to slapp your momma for what she used to serve. They'll eye you and toss 1/2 a loaf of white bread in there too(more if you ask).
You take your crate to a picnic bench where paper towels and BBQ sauce to make sanwhiches or eat how you like. The sauce is excellent. Honestly it is my favorite in Austin - now if I can only sneak some into Salt Lick...that would be perfect). Overall the meat is cooked pretty good (not the best in town but very good) but the sauce and side are solid and make for agreat meal.
Clean up after yourself and then fill the tank up.
One of my favorite places in Austin, you can't go wrong.
My Quest has Ended!!!
by nickyj8 at Citysearch
I just moved to Texas from Michigan about a year ago and ever since I got here I have been on this quest for great BBQ. I have been to a few places that havent quite met my expectations. And the other day when I made the random decision to go here for lunch I didnt really wnat to get my hopes up. So to my surprise when I got to the counter the guys were so friendly and asked if it was my first time. I went through the whole first-timer experience with trying samples and making a great meal decision. Me and my boyfriend were so impression with the quality of customer service that I "almost" wanted to leave w/ the food and write a blog about it right then. Thank you so much for restoring my faith in Southern charm and good ol' fashion BBQ.
- Pros: Customer Service
- Cons: Parking

- Cons: sometimes crowded
Best BBQ in Austin
by jason1051 at Citysearch
Rudy's has the best brisket that I have tasted. Get the extra moist rather than the extra lean for more flavor. The Jalepeno sausage is great. The corn chowder is different an very good.
The best part was not having to sit down and wait for your food. You just order and pick it up all at the same time.
- Pros: Quick and delicious
- Cons: $$$ Brisket is near $12/lb.
Seriously, the "Worst BBQ" ever!

Their BBQ is soooo unbelievably good. You have GOT to try this place, I do not understand why it isnt number one! I have tried the other top places listed on citysearch, and this place by far beats them all.
- Pros: the food and sauSe!
- Cons: cost can add up quickly!

The best finger licking BBQ in the state of Texas
by mblount at Citysearch
Heavenly! This is by far the best BBQ you will ever eat. It's peppered, falls apart because it is so tender and the sauce is to die for. Brisket, Pork, Turkey or Ribs whatever floats your boat, they've got it. I am particularly found of the Brisket... mmm, mmm, good. Don't stop there, they have some of the best creamed corn you will ever eat, yes creamed corn. Try to save room for the banana pudding it is scrumptous!
- Pros: BBQ that Rocks!, Friendly Service!, Great Take Out!

I only found Rudy's about a year ago after my brother dragged me in there becuas ehe thought it had the best sausage he'd ever eaten. I hate to say it, but he was right!!! I can't go through Austin now without stopping for sausage, or brisket, or ribs, or just a pint of beans or cream corn! Not only are the employees super friendly and always cheerful, they know how to move a line and the people to the food. I also love the concept of buying by the slice or by the pound so if you only want a sandwhich you only have to pay for a sandwhich.
- Pros: great taste, Rudy's Sause, fairly priced
- Cons: usually crowded (only, because it's good)
