I have been to St. Thomas a few times to browse their selection for dresses. The first time was just to see what they had and the second was to purchase a prom gown. After going through what seemed to be a "screening process" to see if I was worthy enough to try on anything, I was put into a dressing room. The clerk was so annoying in the rudest way possible and kept coming in and opening up my curtain. She was definitely UNINVITED and UNANNOUNCED. I was topless for the whole store to see and she did not care. She was more worried about the delicate dresses that she thought I was ruining. I was so shocked and was about to knock her out so I left and went to buy the same dress at GIADA ROCO, where they have a much nicer staff with much more of a selection. This was a few years ago, but judging by the other reviews it is still relevant.
Pros: selection
Cons: everything else

I have been to this store several times... The first was for a prom dress and the help was wonderful and the service made me feel like I was a very important client. The second time I went to the store was to buy my Deb dress, and I had the owner help me ( he was fab!) and I felt like a queen for the day. So, at this point I was like I love this store. That's when things went sour. I went back to the store to get a all white dress for a party ( with my friend I had raved about the place too) and the staff wouldn't let me or my friend try on the clothes because they feared we would ruin them, and the clothes cost too much money for that to happen! I thought they were crazy! They also said that the dress I wanted cost $500 dollars, so I would do better going to some other place. I told them, "I can read a price tag, and I am a freaking size 6! I also said I don't need somone who is working here, not shopping here, to tell me my finances!" I took one of the dresses while my friend waited by the door to leave, and was about to try it on when I found "body fluids" all over the inside of the dress! Their pretty $500 dollar dress! I busted out laughing as I quickly handed the dress back to the store clerk and informed her that the last person who was deemed good enough to try on ( not buy) this dress left something on thie inside. When she looked, she turned bright red, and then tried to start being helpful. LOL. I will never in my life shop there again. These people are rude, and seem to not only try to judge how deep your pockets are, but all so your dress size.
Pros: Pretty clothes/ designer names/ Nice Owner
Cons: Rude Staff

I recently went shopping for a special occasion dress for my daughter, we started out at Betsey Johnson and wanted to comparison shop, we found a darling dress at St.Thomas, however, we recieved the SNOB appeal attitude with the dress. I was dressed nice, had a Juicy Coutoure bag in hand from earlier purchase but I got the feeling they didn't think I could afford or would buy the dress. I thought it was kind of funny..actually the dress I bought ended up costing $125 more then the dress I liked there. Had the sales service been less snobby and more personable I would have purchased the dress for another occasion. Too bad!

I love St. Thomas boutique and will forever go there for all my special occasion needs. In the past, they've gotten some poor reviews for their "snobby" service or things of that nature, but I did not experience ANY of that while I was there. Michele was super helpful and friendly, and even though I am a struggling graduate student and look the part, she didn't treat me any differently than better dressed and more high-paying customers. The dress I ended up buying had to be altered and they took care of all of the alterations from start to finish and called me to make sure they were altering it correctly. Riley is a genius and when I didn't like a certain part of the dress, he brainstormed with me to make it look even better! Now I have a one-of-a-kind, "Riley original" and I couldn't be happier! Go into St. Thomas and expect (and demand) the best! They have a great selection of evening wear and its worth every penny!!
Pros: great quality, personal touch and service
Cons: You will have to pay a lot, but it's worth it!

St. Thomas relys heavily on their clientel. If you havnt been there they will be nice but be sure to make a point that you will be back. If you are a returning client see the salesperson that helped you the first time you were there. Daniel is a great salesman who will help you with anything. They are awesome about altering a dress to your specifications. I have had a custom dress done by them and it turned out beautiful. One of a kind pieces are what you will find here. The owner Thomas is very helpful and very nice. Everybody there is very helpful and nice. They know what designers are going to become big and they always have pieces in there that you wont find anywhere else. i have been a customer there for several years now and with the new store at The Domain they can carry alot more. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Pros: amazing pieces, service
Cons: if your not willing to spend, dont go

I bought my prom dress at St Thomas years ago and have recommended them for many different occasions. When my cousin was looking for a dress for the senior prom I was very excited to take her to St. Thomas. I assured her that it was worth the trip from San Antonio to Austin. I could not have been more wrong. To make a long story short... We were in the store for about 15 minutes before the sales associates even acknowledged us, and when my cousin told him she was looking for a prom dress he stated that he would show her where the dresses where but she would not be allowed to try any on because they were "much to delicate." This was diffidently the last time I will ever recommend St Thomas to ANYONE.
Pros: pretty clothes
Cons: horrible service

I bought a dress for 50% off on Tuesday. When I returned to pick it up on Friday, it was marked down to 75% off. Had I waited just three days to purchase the dress, I would have saved over $100. Even though the dress hadn't left the store, the staff was unwilling to honor the new price.
Pros: Selection
Cons: High prices

For years I will go (from Mexico) to Austin to get all my especial occasion apparel in St Thomas. They have the best merchandise, prices, alterations (fast also) and absolutely the best advice. Every person I have recommended the place has been very grateful for the advise.
Pros: Lots of choices.
Cons: There is only one Tomas

I purchase a dress for my daughters wedding in April. I had very minor alterations. I was told that the alterations charge is nothing it was $90.00. The day of the wedding I put on the dress 2 hours before the wedding and the one strap had completely broke and the one sleeve on the jacket was not finished being hemmed. I ended up running to Wal-Mart to find a dress. Keep in mind that the dress was $517.00 plus the alterations.. I was furious and went to get some sort compensation for what happened.. They refused to compensate anything. Not only was the man, rude and patronizing but he just walked away in the middle of my conversation Now I am really mad and will do everything in my power to see this does not happen to someone else. STAY AWAY IT IS A HIGH CLASS RIP OFF !!!
Pros: nice sales lady
Cons: expensive, rude, poor quality

Hi, My name is Sarah and I found my wedding gown at St.Thomas!! To all of you brides wanting to find the best of the best, St.Thomas is the place to go. Judy Dupre is the Bridal Specialist here and she is awesome. She spent alot of quality time with me and was very patient as well, as I tried on about 15 Reem Acra wedding gowns. The gowns they have are fabulous! Yeah the wedding gowns are somewhat expensive but think about these amazing gowns you are trying on. Vera Wang and Reem Acra are 2 of the best designers around! I had alot of fun and I do recommend that all of you brides go to St.Thomas and experience what they have to offer. I had a blast!! Good Luck!!
Pros: great service, great quality dresses, knowledgable staff
Cons: pretty expensive
