Hiking trails and buried treasure lure locals to this appealing public space.

In Short
Austin lore says General Custer and his cavalry camped here during the Civil War; the general also may have buried 35 men and some treasure here. Today people come for a lunchtime trail walk or run on the Shoal Creek Hike and Bike Trail that runs through the park. You can also play disc golf and volleyball or take a dip in the wading pool. The park is a great place to picnic too.
a good park

It's like a scaled-down Zilker. The trails are long enough, but a little crowded. The disc golf course is very challenging and it's easy to lose your disc (especially if you aren't too good like me). This is a good park to take you dog to and play fetch, but parts of it are a little too close to Lamar Blvd.
