In Short
Founded in 1956 by Dr. Harry Huntt Ransom, the center showcases famed photography, theater arts, film, music and visual art. The lobby features a "Worldly Possessions" display, with artifacts like Anne Sexton's checkbook and Gertrude Stein's pen. Modern art sprawls over the main room while other levels show pieces from the 15th through the 20th century from all over the world, as well as the Gutenberg Bible, the oldest surviving book printed with movable type on a printing press.
