OK, But not the most romantic place, that's for sure

by ohyeahlach at Citysearch

Went here last night for dinner at 8:30... the place was completely empty. No nice candels lit or decor that was romantic at all whatsoever.. not sure how this place was named most romantic in Austin! they were out of the potatoes with the special (didn't tell us until it was ordered, WTF?) Our server was definitely not experienced (hmmd and hawed through the specials and didn't know many answers, had to check). The whole place looked like it was run by kids under 20. No kidding.. the hostess, the waiters... I didn't see management at all. The meal was just ok. For $30 per person we expected much better. The portions were very small (which would be ok if the flavor was better). I had the Lamb (which was 6 bites of lamb, no lie) My spouse had the filet special... ordered it medium it came med well. What are you going to do? Next time we'll head downtown...

  • Pros: Cute little area it's in in downtown Round ROck
  • Cons: Food average, service inexperienced, a bit high priced

10th anniversery

by claire1964 at Citysearch

My husaband and I celebrated our 1st, 2nd, 4th and now our tenth anniversary. Main Street Grill had taken care of everything including my husband's request for rose petals and candles on the table. We were in the vault which is the prefect place for romance and celebration.

It was fabulous! A memory for the ages! It couldn't have been any better.

You have to try the soup!

by Isayitlikeitis at Citysearch

My husband and I have been to main street grill at least once a month since the first time we went there. Everytime we go the soup is amazing, no matter what kind it is, it's always fantastic! I, personally, am NOT a soup person, in fact, it took a lot for my husband to get me to order the soup at Main Street, because I don't generally like soup. But this stuff is FANTASTIC!!! The chef even came out to meet my husband because he ordered 5 bowls of it the first time he ever tried it. (I'm not exaggerating... ) He will not give us his secret recipe, so we have to keep going to get our soup fix... I also love the horseradish encrusted lamb and the garlic mashed potatoes... whatever this chef is putting in his food, it's working! Great place to go!

  • Pros: great food! personable staff! a chef that knows how to blend flavors!
  • Cons: the location is small, but I kinda like the cozy atmosphere

Main Street Grill is the Best Little Restaurant in TX

by KelJas23 at Citysearch

First Time to ever write a review but we wanted our dining experience to be known. We are brand new to the area and are so happy to have Main Street Grill in our back yard. We found the restaurant on citysearch and we thought lets try it out. The service was warm and the food was Phenomenal. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and was more than happy to guide our night when he discovered it was our first time to dine with them. He tooks us through the menu recommending a couple of favorites per course. His descriptions enticed us to take his word and we were blown away with the flavors. He selected a starter for us bacon wrapped jalepeno stuffed shrimp with an ancho honey sauce, next we tried a roasted pepper bisque and also a mixed green salad with strawberries, pecans, and gorgonzola crumbles which had this rediculously delicious sweet balsamic dressing, and for dinner we both had a beef tenderloin which was served in a red wine sauce and a gorgonzola baked topping, the spices the steak were prepared with played off the red wine sauce perfectly. We finished with a house made cheesecake which was also advised for us to try. I don't even really like cheesecake but wow that's some good cheesecake. (I gave in when I saw my husband's ears perk up when he heard cheesecake) So overall we give it four thumbs way, way up!!!!

  • Pros: Warm Friendly Service and Great Food
  • Cons: A little bright with all the windows blinds open, candles but no candle light? could be a bit more intimate

The Best Steak in Texas is in Round Rock

by davidfuller9 at Citysearch

Let me preface with a little background. I love food. I have always loved food and spend years in the restaurant business partially because I love food so much. I have worked in casual restaurants and fine-dining restaurants. One of the big things to do in your free time when you work in the food service industry is go out to eat. I did. A lot. I have had some fantastic meals.

Last night, I had the best meal of my *cough*ty some-odd years. This is not hyperbole. My wife will agree. I had the rib eye. It was 12 ounces of pepper crusted decadence, perfectly cooked to a warm, medium-rare and topped with a chipotle infused butter. It was served with tamale whipped potatoes and vegetable du jour. Let me tell you, tamale whipped potatoes are exactly what they sound like and they are just flat out delicious. First word out of my mouth following the fork was, ?Cool!?

My wife had lamb loin, crusted in horseradish breadcrumbs with some kind of red wine demi glace. It was served with Roquefort whipped potatoes and vegetables du jour. I don?t normally care for horseradish but it complemented the lamb very well.

We were seated in the old bank vault (by request only but it was recommended by the hostess that took my reservation), it was a nice touch. We were the only people in the vault.

Our server, I believe his name was Jeremy, was fantastic. He was friendly, made fantastic recommendations including a decadent cheesecake, topped with caramel sauce and sugar coated pecans with fresh strawberries on the side. Thanks Jeremy.

Simply put, Main Street Grill is a wonderful find of a restaurant. I will be back and I will recommend everyone I know to go at least once (if only once because it is a little pricey). Dudes, listen up. If your chick has a special day coming up, whether birthday or her anniversary or whatever and you are in the Austin area, go to Main Street Grill.

  • Pros: Fantastic food and service, Nice Ambience
  • Cons: A little pricey but worth it

Can't Wait To Try It!

by hobbyhorse1959 at Citysearch

I waited on the owners at my restaurant, Crapitto's Cucina, in Houston in late February or early March 2008. After visiting with them, they told me about their restaurant in Round Rock. I am previously from Austin. I cannot wait to try their restaurant. The menu looks great and the restaurant looks beautiful. A great place for a romantic evening, I will bet. My name is David, just in case the owners see this review. I plan to come for a meal at Main Street Grill in the very near future. :)

So Impressed

by liljames at Citysearch

This neat little place that I just recently stumbled upon in old downtown round rock is a definite new favorite of mine. We went in for drinks and ended up staying for a whole meal with everything on the menu just looking so irrisistable it became hard to choose. With our waiter John's recommendation for what wine we should pair with each item my friend and I found the famous Monica's salad to start, we finished with southwestern roast pork loin and the Lamb . Everything ended beautifully and with great wine, food, ambience, and impressivly personable service the bar has been raised in my standards as far as restaurants in Austin go.

  • Pros: customer service, tasty food
  • Cons: misleading user reviews

Not the most romantic place to eat!

by mtzion at Citysearch

If your coming from Austin or somewhere else to make that special trip to round rock don't bother. This place should of never won most romantic 2007. Could it be strategic voting? Here's what I noticed, as you wait for a waiter you happen to look up. Ohh, no most of the vents on the ceiling have mold all around them (large amounts of mold) the very kind your not supposed to inhale! As for the food, the chicken was very dry and over cooked, the bread they serve is very boring and the meals are cold. Better off going to a safe place if your concerned about your health.

  • Cons: Large Amounts of MOLD! on and around the ceiling vents! Expensive for bad food.
