What a coffee house should be. Nice atmosphere, even better coffee and a great place to relax or meet up with friends. Cast of characters who frequent this spot is almost as diverse as their great drinks

This fun little coffee shop located across the street from campus is a great place to grab a coffee and hang for a while. Tables and couches make the atmosphere comfortable. The cafe offers free wifi for laptop users.

And of course, the coffee is just plain good.

Lava Java is a refreshing, smoke-free medium between the more popular corporate and non-corporate coffee shops in Austin. Consequently, you're likely to see a variety of people: older professionals from nearby St. David's Hospital, who relax during a lunch break or wind down with friends or dates after a hard day, and younger college-goers who relax or study in the eclectic mix of furniture that includes antique ceiling fans and funky chairs.

great service

The people here are so nice. I usually pay with a credit card and don't tip, but they are so friendly when they see me time after time. I need to start getting cash out from the ATM to leave these guys some dough. They SO deserve it. The organic Peruvian blend coffee is wonderful. And, they have a great deal where you can gt a coffee and 2 breakfast tacos for a littl over $3.
