Fabulous Cut - GREAT PRODUCTS

by MissJones at Citysearch

First of all, I didn't even know this place existed until I searched out Christina Crawford on a friend's recommendation. This little store is tucked away by Central Market. VERY CUTE LITTLE STORE! Everyone way really friendly while I waited for my appointment. I have had such a hard time finding a good stylist, but I am finally thrilled with my hair. You can tell she really loves what she does.

After my appointment, someone who worked in the retail section helped me find a new shampoo and conditioner. I was looking at Pureology (oh, how I love it.... but the price tag is just too high right now), but a dark-haired girl there helped me find something on sale. She recommended the Halo, which I do like and it was a quarter of the cost. Then she gave me lots of samples and an orange card so I can earn free stuff.

I loved my first experience at this little store and will be going back to do some shopping soon.

  • Pros: Christina and staff is GREAT, good sales
  • Cons: hidden location

stay away!

by crazydiamond at Citysearch

I had an overall bad experience with this place. The staff are not very friendly or helpful. Terrible customer service. Then, the lady who cut my hair, rushed through, did a terrible job, and then charged me $65! I mentioned to her that it didn't look right and she blamed it on my hairline and then said I should take a few days to get used to it. I've had the same hairline my whole life, and it's looked good with past haircuts, so I don't think it was my hairline. I felt like she was just making excuses and seemed in a real hurry to get me out of there. She also didn't speak English very well, so it was very difficult to communicate with her. The next day I asked some friends to look at it and they all agreed that it did not look straight in the back and was not blended very well in the front. I also had to get out the scissors and cut off some strands of hair that were obviously much longer than everything else. WTF? I called the salon and spoke with the stylist. I told her I wanted my money back so that I could go someplace else to get my hair fixed. She refused. She said I could come in again and she would fix it, but I do not trust her to go near my hair with scissors ever again. I also feel that for a $65 haircut, it should look great, and I should not need to go back and get it fixed. I was very calm when speaking with her on the phone, but she got upset and accused me of harassing her because I was calling her from my cell phone which doesn't have a local area code, and she had to call me back, "long distance." So apparently that is harassment. Anyways, long story short, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE unless you want to pay $65 for a haircut that looks like it should have cost $20.

  • Cons: bad haircut, terrible customer service, totally overpriced

Best Staff - Great Selection

by EyeLoveStuff at Citysearch

I have done my shopping in here for a while now, and I have always been happy with The B.S.. I am always greeted (Sometimes in unison by multiple girls... It's kind of funny) and asked if I need help when I walk in. Any time I need a recommendation, the staff is always more than happy to help me. You can tell they really use the products and know what works and what does not (They recommended ALTERNA Thickening Compound for my fine hair last time.... and I love it). They seem to keep the same staff for a while, which really helps, I think.

They frequently run specials like "Buy One, Get One" on hair products and candles. Also, they always have my Jane Iredale in stock and when I needed help finding a new color, I was given all the help I needed. They helped me find the right color and a new Make up brush for it.

Last time I was in there, one girl was helping with a customer that was freaking out because her hairspray stopped spraying. She admitted to having it a while but told the girl she did not understand why they sell faulty products. The sales person fixed the hairspray for the woman, but she was not happy with this so she was given a discount on a new one. I thinks the sales staff was very nice to, what seemed to me, to be a very rude customer.

The only bad things I can see about the B.S. is the way they answer the phone (you should call them... its funny), and many of the other customers seem a little high-maintenance for me.

  • Pros: Great Specials; Very knowledgeable Staff
  • Cons: The funny way they answer the phone. "It's a beautiful day..

HORRIBLE service, great selection

by evedav at Citysearch

This place is convenient and has an excellent selection of products. Their return policy is great in theory, but having to deal with rude service people when you return something almost makes the policy not worth it. (What's the point of having this policy if you're just going to stare down the customer, act all judgmental, and act like you might not accept the return?) Every time I go in here, it seems like there are several more staff members than necessary - they're never busy - but instead of rushing to help a customer, they continue to gossip amongst themselves. When they do take the time to help you they cop an attitude as if you're greatly inconveniencing them. They're also very judgmental ("why do you want *that* ew" is not something i expect to hear from a salesperson.) Their product recommendations are also sub-par - they don't seem very knowledgeable beyond what they themselves use. Management is rude to both the employees and the customers. Bottom line - buy things online for cheaper and forget about the return policy. Buying beauty products shouldn't leave you frustrated or upset.

  • Pros: good selection
  • Cons: terrible customer service, pain to return things

Awesome Locally Owned Salon!

by Longhorn122 at Citysearch

The Beauty Store in Central Park is great! I get my hair cut and highlighted by Brandy Louden and she is amazing. She has been cutting my hair for about 5 years now and I will never want to see anyone else! She is very precise and cuts your hair the way you tell her to. She never cuts too much off or leaves me with anything I didn't expect.

As for the store, it is great too. It has very low prices and you get a reward card that rewards you with a $10 coupon when you fill it up. I use Pureology products and the Beauty Store always has them.

For the record, since I am a past employee of the Beauty Store, there is not a single person that makes the appointments, it is just whoever answers the phone. I left my job there because the new manager was horrible, but my friend who works there now says the management has done a 180.

Shop at the Beauty Store and SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS!

  • Pros: Brandy's Haircuts, Low prices, Employees that don't pressure you, Great selection
  • Cons: Sometimes you might have a bad experience with an associate

Rude and disrespectful management.

by Brenda09 at Citysearch

I buy all my skin care and hair care supplies from The Beauty Store. They always have everything that I need and the customer service is usually above par. However, I went in to find a top coat for my manicure kit and I asked the manager to reccommend a product for me. She was very rude and basically ignored me completely. Then I was assisted by another associate who had never used the product and felt she should ask her supervisor. The supervisor then proceded to roll her eyes at the girl and never answered the question, just continued flipping through a magazine. I found this to be very disrespectful and unprofessional.I filed a complaint against the supervisor but, I will still buy my beauty supplies there because they have a great selection and quality products. But, I would advise future customers to go in knowing what they're after and steer clear of the snobby management or ask another associate for help.

  • Pros: Well stocked, clean, friendly and helpful employees.
  • Cons: Manager treated both customers and employees with disregard and disrespect.

Good cuts, rude service

by Jude45678 at Citysearch

The quality of the hair cut is always really good, but the service is pretty bad sometimes. I called to make an appointment for me and a friend and was shocked at how rude the person on the phone was. I've been going to the beauty store for about 7 years but will probably find somewhere else after my experience with the woman who makes appointments.

My best hair cut & color ever

by picky55 at Citysearch

I went to this salon a couple days ago and had a hair cut & color by Cristina Crawford and it is the best service I ever had. Cristina was so nice and very professional. She give me a great scalp massage & she used a hot towel with the conditioner and it felt like heaven. The price is very reasonable.

  • Pros: Great service, nice store with lots of great stuff, stylist accepts credit cards
  • Cons: very busy shopping center, hard to find parking space

Love the selection...

by lpk2008 at Citysearch

With a huge array of skincare and haircare, this is the place to go...not to mention the various accessories, frames and candles! This is the only place I know with all of these products. The sales staff is full of knowledge and they are extremely helpful. If you are scared to buy before you try, you can take samples home with you or they have a GREAT return policy. The salon/spa is awesome too. I have tried a few of the stylists and have never been disappointed, I just like the different techniques each stylist has. All in all a fabulous shop , I will continue to give them business and recommend this store to friends!

  • Pros: Great selection
  • Cons: Parking can be a nightmare
