I had an appointment with Jen for a simple cut, and she had someone else call me 30 minutes before my appointment to cancel - because "she had a color correction that was taking longer than expected." They then said the next available appointment was a week later, and there was no way they could work me in sooner. I had scheduled my entire Saturday around my appointment, which I had made two weeks earlier. I won't be giving my business to Wet salon again.

Pros: Great reputation

Cons: Don't treat their customers well

I've been a long-time friend of Kelly's and she's the only one I trust my hair with. So, when she moved over to wet salon so did my business. It's a really trendy spot on S. Congress with a great atmosphere. There's amazing art on the wall, done by one of the stylists there, and it has a very welcoming feel to it. I'm very satisfied with the service they provide! Anyone who is looking to get a kick-ass haircut, just ask for Kelly. Tell her Stefen sent you!

I'm wondering if there's even a remote possibly I can explain to you the magic of Jen Rische's aesthetic. Well, how about this? I call her the HAIR JEDI. Most people do. We call her this because she does good hair. She does good hair and she delivers every single time. I've been seeing her for a number of years, through a number of styles, and several different trends. However, with each cut she manages to bring the most flattering form of innovation to my unusually shaped head. Several times I've made an appointment and brought to her an idea for "my new look." Generally it involves some interesting color I picked on a whim. I’ll sit for a few minutes and explain to her my “vision.” Jen will slowly tilt her head to the side and absorb all that I'm saying. Then, without so much as telling me how awful my concept actually is, she’ll bring forth her bible: a bound copy of hair color samples. Surreptitiously, like a true shear genius, she’ll lead me to a much better, more complementary hair color choice. And Jen is not all talk--she really is a HAIR JEDI! I always have the cutest cut ‘n color in my office and I've sent countless friends to her. Countless times she sends them back much happier--and much hotter. The only reason you wouldn't go to the Wet Salon on South Congress and let Jen Rische do your hair is because you're Chelsea Clinton and Madonna already gave you a makeover. Everyone else should just hurry and get an appointment. Make like a chi and straighten up!

Pros: Wet is a super cool facility with vintage mirrors suspended from the ceiling and murky, purple walls strewn with local art.

Cons: Make your appointment a head of time kids--Jen is a popular girl!

I recommend Ryan at Wet Salon. I had a cut and partial highlights with Ryan this morning. The salon fit me into his schedule at the last minute and I'm very pleased with the results. Ryan did an excellent job with my partial highlights which turned out very natural. The cut is also chic with a twist of edgeyness. His scalp massage was amazing - just the right anticdote to a big night out the night prior.

Pros: good customer service, prompt, value for money, high caliber results

Cons: loud and hectic atmosphere

I am the type of person that will eat beans out of a can for a week so that I can have great hair. It's the one thing that I really splurge on, and I expect results for the money I shell out. That being said, I've been going to Mark Devore for two years or more, and he recently relocated to Wet from another salon on the East side. I was a little hesitant at first, but felt welcomed and was greeted warmly as soon as I walked in the door. The salon is bright, open, and all of the stylists were friendly and smiley towards me, even though I wasn't their client. I didn't have to wait for my appointment at all once I got there-- in fact, I was early, and Mark showed me right to his chair. I'm getting married next week, and Mark worked his wonders once again, going above and beyond what I asked of him. My color is vibrant, my cut has made my hair bouncy and alive, and I'm looking forward to seeing Mark again at his new home.

Pros: Bright, friendly, timely

Cons: Parking on S. Congress

I did some research on hair salons within the Austin area and read about Wet with great reviews. To my dismay, my hair stylist not only JUST graduated from beauty school but didn't even know how to layer hair when I requested someone who specialized with long hair. He butchered my hair to a point where it took almost an entire year to trim my hair to a reasonable length because the layers were far too short and uneven! Don't get me wrong, the customer service was great and it was easy to book an appointment (not surprised), but was it worth ruining my hair? Absolutely not. Having spent about $40 on a haircut that cost me twice the amount to fix, please, don't waste your time here.

Cons: Zero skill

just moved here from the west coast and was finally looking forward to finding a new salon. read great things about this one so i decided to give it a try. had a noon appointment and as i'm driving there i get a call from them telling me my stylist won't be able to make it. that was it. no other explanations or attempts to fit me in with someone else or even an apology. they asked me if i could come back on monday and i told them no because i work monday's through fridays and yet they still continued to say "well we have a 9:30 on monday...". spent a great deal of time trying to find the right salon and rearranging my schedules and had my day all planned out, but now i'm back on the computer trying to look for a salon who can take me today since i am going out of town but of course everyone is full. thanks wet salon for such an advance notice, terrific customer service and professionalism!

Ryan is absolutely amazing. I used to fly back home to the east coast to get my hair done, but that is happening no longer! His cuts and color always turn out beautifully! He's honest, creative and always makes the experience so much fun. I've never left his chair unsatisfied. This salon is, by far, the most comfortable, eclectic and fun salon in Austin. Each stylist has their own sense of style and personality which makes it truly an Austin original. Wet has some serious talent when it comes to styling hair! I highly, highly recommend Ryan and this salon to anyone, whether you need just a trim or a complete new style. You will never need to look for another salon in Austin again!

Pros: free parking, laid-back, friendly, great stylists!

Cons: the temptation to go shopping on S. Congress afterwards...
