Great bar, despite the Friday night DJ

I went to this place on Friday night for the first time and had an awesome night. Just a really fun place with a great vibe. The miracle is that I still felt like this after experiencing the worst DJ in the world. The guy puts of pretty much great track after great track, but then only plays it for 30 seconds to a minute, before he pretty much kills the music while he puts another track on. Horrible example of a DJ trying to do too many things and getting it badly wrong as a result - all we want to do in somewhere like the Whisky Bar is dance to some great tunes. It p1ssed me off so much I found the manager and told him the dude was the worst DJ I'd ever heard. He challenged me to do better, so come and hear me spin some great tracks one night!

good times

I'm new to Austin and am experiencing many bars in the area for the first time. I liked Whisky Bar because the place was busy but not crazy crowded, the people were a great mix and social and I loved the dancin' right when we walked in...we explored the back areas and met fun people and I ended up being in the middle of that dance crowd and had a great time. Will be back again!

This funky spot provides one of Austin's most relaxed nights of flirty fun.

Located in the swanky Warehouse District, this is an oasis that caters to patrons who want a relaxed-funky atmosphere that specializes in single malt scotches and small-batch bourbons. With more than 100 whiskeys from which to choose, vodka and gin drinkers would feel left out if it weren't for the extensive martini list. Lava lamps, big booths and couches are surrounded by modern art on the walls, creating a cozy absinthe-den vibe.

My favorite Austin bar

After two years of roaming 5th and 6th, I've decided that this is my favorite bar. The bar's atmosphere is beautiful and cozy - modern art, low lights, very artsy, and I love the back room. Service is really great, too. It's never overly crowded, but you can find cool people there.

• Pros: great drinks, cozy artsy atmosphere, small intimate size
• Cons: nothing comes to mind

Roughs and Stuffs and Afro Puffs

The place is very chill. I mean too many hot bartenderitas and good whiskey is always the goods. Their jukebox lights this place up with some stuff I would want my cd collection to have. I mean 'Im housin' by RATM is always good whiskey drinkin' jams. I want to buy this place and just hang out here all the time so the bartender chicas will hang out with me. I'm so the roughs, like Whiskey Bar.

• Cons: I don't own it, Is there Live Music?
