Great Vietnamese Soup

by Leelee84

This place is great for lunch or dinner if you just want a bowl of Vietnamese soup and a great spring roll. I've actually ate both inside and outside and I much prefer to eat inside. Sometimes during the week, the lunch crowd can be crazy and it can be hard to find a seat--but the food is fantastic!

  • Pros: soup, spring rolls
  • Cons: seating can be bad at lunch time, a few non-soup items on the menu aren't that good.

Fantastic!

by jillebean

Apparently this place has been voted "most romantic patio"... I only tried it since the weather has been cold and dreary, so I can't vouch for that. BUT, it's the first Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to that makes fantastic coffee drinks and desserts! We've tried the chicken curry, pho (chicken soup), and beef vermicelli, and they have all been wonderful (and cooked with no MSG). Try their Vietnamese coffee - it competes with some of the best coffee joints in town!

Highly recommended, this is a cool place.

Healthy outdoor scene

by cleveinaustin

I love the smell of this place when you walk in. Great Chi coffee smell (think they roast their own). I'm addicted to their vermacelli and spicy garlic chicken lunch special that's served with a shrimp spring roll. shaded patio in the back was a pleasant surprise you don't expect from a resteraunt in a strip center. Have also had their Pho soup, and it's deliciious as well.

Fresh, healthy and delicious.

by mercystreet

Triumph is one of my favorite restaurants. Everything tastes very fresh and healthy, and the food is great for the money. This is an order-at-the-counter restaurant, with fast service. I usually get spring rolls and pho, but I also like their tofu dishes -- the texture is light and fluffy, not dense and fried like some restaurants' tofu. My boyfriend loves the sizzling beef. Also they make a great yellow curry -- try the curry tofu or curry chicken with vermicelli. And of course, it's one of the best outdoor patios in Austin.

  • Pros: Affordable, romantic patio, extensive menu for vegetarians & carnivores

One-stop shopping for gourmet coffee and tantalizing Vietnamese food.

by Contributor

In Short
This cozy coffeeshop has carved out a niche with a mind-boggling array of coffee drinks. The cafe seems is a hangout for Asian teenagers looking for caffeine highs, but you'll also find older couples savoring the authentic Vietnamese food. The pho tai is an aromatic broth with a mound of rice noodles, thinly shaved eye of round steak, green onions and cilantro. The Triumph Special sandwich layered paper-thin slices of meats with grated cheeses.

Different kind of Viet. food

by mjjn2

The spring rolls were better than average restaurants, but cost $1.50 ($0.50 more). It a good place to try something new.

Great place for lunch

Triumph is a great place to go for lunch. Their food is always fresh and good. Make sure to get there around 11:30, so you can have a nice outdoor spot to sit.

Authenticity With A Twist

by al22

I have eaten at many Vietnamese Restaurants and know authentic Vietnamese food when I taste it, and Triumph is authentic with an american twist. One of my favorite dish is the Vermicelli with Chicken Teriyaki which I can only get at Triumph. This place is defintitely worth trying if you feel for Vietnamese food.

  • Pros: Great service, Food very tasty, Nice patio

Not Vietnamese food! From a Vietnamese

by zman5118

If you like Vietnamese food and think you have found it at Triumph, you are sadly mistaken. Take it from a Vietnamese who enjoys his food.. However, given the lack of good Vietnamese restaurants in Austin, I'd rate this a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. The location is nice and the service is adequate but the food is something else.

  • Pros: Nice location, romantic spot, quiet neighborhood
  • Cons: Not Vietnamese food, whatelse?

The Best of Everything in One Place

by bunny1021

Triumph is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in town. Not only that, they also have good coffee, pastries, breakfast tacos, and American sandwiches! Where else can you find all of that in one place? P.S. As for the health inspection--they just got a very high score of 89 in May.
